NANS appeals to FG on ASUU strike

THE National Associa-tion of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to the Federal Government to return to the negotiation table with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to curb the decadence in the education sector.
In a press statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune, on Wednesday, in Ilorin, Kwara State, the national vice-president of the body, Musbau Esinrogunjo, reminded the Federal Government that the strike portended danger for the nation.
Esinrogunjo noted that having been forced to abandon their schools in pursuit of their academics, the future of the Nigerian students was daily becoming more bleak, as every passing day pointed to a state of hopelessness for the millions of students.
He said the recalcitrance of the government to go back to the negotiation table was posing serious threats to their education and urged its negotiating team to resume talks with the union.
He also urged the government to look into various grouses of ASUU “as a matter of urgency,” with a view to resolving them within the shortest time.
