As bulldozers Bully homes into submission To make gardens Of peoples’ abodes While dwellers huddled On street corners Awaiting shelters promised, We swaggered to the square Five star arena Decorated in colours And opulence. In our literary frenzy We uttered blasphemy “Writers shouldn’t be activists” We preached To delight of patron devil On whose dinning table We relish vulture meals. Our guardian Angels now Are in flight To temporary exile.
