In a country where such a number isn't appreciated and/or monetized properly, of what use is this accolade? Bragging rights? If yes, sorry I don't go for such as words don't put food on the table for me Just curious.

We were once number 8 in Nigeria. Then Facebook and the spam problem struck and we fell. We're back at number 10 now, which is lovely, thanks to the much hated antispam bot. Being spam-free may be enough to hold our position on the short term, but we need to innovate. If we don't, the site will fade away. But first, I want to rearchitect the entire forum: I need a firm foundation to build on. See also: http://www.alexa.com/topsites/category/Top/Regional/Africa/Nigeria

No doubt. With over 400,000 members it surpasses Naija hot jobs twice and is a link to other Naija sites. Nairaland cant afford to fold/close up.

I remember him saying he doesnt believe in this same things. and why not do it yourself. well time is the best teacher. Nairaland is not 10% of what it is suppose to be. and I will say this anyday anytime.

the only thing i will say is that"MAY ALMIGHTY CONTINUE TO BLESS U SEUN" cuz one way or the other, nairaland has impacted on users' lives, Most times i wonder how seun make money on the forum when everything is absolute. It's everything nigerians should be proud of, It may not be as facebook but i am proud to be part & parcel of this achievement, Thanks for doing us proud"LONG LIVE SEUN,LONG LIVE NAIRALAND,LONG LIVE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA"

My kids call NL the "old people's facebook". I enjoy it though maybe old age is gradually creeping in. It is a good site though. Keeps me abreast of happenings and rumours.

Why you dey yab the poster? Don't worry, one day your site will make it into the top 20. Shior!
Seun, welldone jare. Nairaland has really impacted my life positively particularly the tech market, computer and phone sections. I also like it cos it's a one-stop website for information & you get breaking news as it happens. I've introduced so many of my friends to the site & I intend to introduce more. Don't worry, we go soon dey top 5. I'm glad to be part of the NL success story.

There was a time i was really blogging heavily on Nairaland and after about 6 months, my interest fizzled out. I have come back after about two years and the site is almost the same! It is content-rich no doubt, it is interactive no doubt, but it needs to broaden its activities and remain light. I must commend Seun for this project but my problem with the way his running the site is that it is built around him and not a system that grows. There isn't also as much offline buzz. I think it's time he rethinks the project, like seriously.

Did I read that well or my english is gone low. Did Seun say INNOVATE and REARCHITECT ? Men this is news. I remember him saying he doesnt believe in this same things. and why not do it yourself. well time is the best teacher. This is false. I never said such. What I actually said is that I don't believe in making Nairaland a Facebook clone. Which is still true. "Innovation" must be accompanied by purpose. Some webmasters like redesigning their sites every month, slowing down their websites with confusing features that their users didn't ask for. As a result, they lose most of their traffic. That's not innovation; it's suicide! My re-architecture is more of a technology thing. I'm just re-building the backend to serve the current and future goals of Nairaland more effectively. the only thing i will say is that"MAY ALMIGHTY CONTINUE TO BLESS U SEUN" cuz one way or the other, nairaland has impacted on users' lives, Most times i wonder how seun make money on the forum when everything is absolute.
Thanks! I hasten to add that the resurgence of Nairaland can't be attributed to the anti-spam bot alone. We now have a big team of very committed moderators who strive to keep the forum clean and vibrant and deal with all sorts of problems. They also put a lot of effort into training the spam filter, to makes it more effective. They are the best!

@Seun maybe I am putting it the wrong way but its no call for arguments. but you told me you dont believe in innovation and we were not talking of facebook clone we were talking of improving on the media aspects to get more products. but its ok boss. You will get there gradually. God be for us all and show ya sef regards

Am glad to hear that NL is one of the top ten most visited websites, It is good news to me and I would like to congratulate and appreciate Seun for the insight he had for creating and starting up a website/forum like this. I've found NL to be informative, educative and entertaining I enjoy it far more than Facebook. The housing & job sections is a brilliant idea, NL is a job well done and more grease to the elbows of any one who can improve this site.
