This is rebranding without the jamboree form the FG. One of the very rare occassions Nigerians will be in the news positively. Nigeria will survive.

Sefago and Sagamite should be cautioned on how they trade and sniff out words to each other, here is not an arena to take things personal by antagonizing each other. Letz be mature enough to argue out our intelligence and give credit to whom it due. A nigerian in a foreign university has just won an award, let us commend his effort and look for ways to encourage others both home and abroad. Well done Jairus. ogidiolu

This is good news. At least something good do still come out of Nigeria. I guess if this guy was in the news because of a vice, it would have made headlines. Greater things come to us when we are grateful for small mercies. God bless Nigeria.

Letz be mature enough to argue out our intelligence and give credit to whom it due. Figuratively speaking, that expression is wrong, you cannot argue out intelligence. Sefago and Sagamite should be cautioned on how they trade and sniff out words to each other I agree, but this thread is boring anyways so why not spice it. Everyone is just saying congratulations, or no congrats and give their reasons, who cares, the guy has graduated and doesn't evn know you exist. . I dont blame the person who mentioned her degree from Europe, she was trying to focus on herself, wetin concern her with the person who achieved in Mexico.

I do have to agree, with the culture shock and everything, well not mediocrity persay, but neither excellence. Excellence is Chinua Achebe, non-excellence is the rest of us non-excellence is you, you mean.

LOL.
SEFAGO, you should also understand that success varies. People view certain things as success depending on their life experiences. For someone who has always been extremely smart, making a B would not be celebrated or seen as a success. But someone who's had D or F averages for so long will see getting a B as a success.
Don't give me that "Chinua Achebe is excellence" talk. Yeah, he excelled in literature but what does have to do with me? lol. I'm sure Chinua can't fly a plane as that isn't his field. Excellence shouldn't be measured by one variable alone. If I achieve something that was previously unattainable, then it's a freaking success to me.

brilliant point chiogo, so by Nigerian standards the mexican guy did marvelously well. Congrat to the guy. And the guy who made 500 naira since he started selling pure water, but made his first 1000 naira one day is a freaking success . Ok if you didn't see the sarcasm , but excellence has only two charcateristics, "significant and difficult to achieve," the unattainable to someone is called personal success (like the example I gave you above) Regardless, I am always very happy when Nigerians do well, I just feel we should have higher standards a bit. I know everything I say would be attacked, but my reasons are justified; the way I say it maybe brash and caustic. By the way, Chinua Achebe is prolly the most famous african, from my experience, and i am not ibo so no bias. I also proudly boast of Okonjo iweala even if no one has heard of her.
