The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are to meet on Tuesday, September, 29 to explore areas of mutual understanding with a view to ending the four-month old industrial strike action embarked on by the university teachers, a move believed to be a fall-out of last week's meeting between Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Education Minister, Dr. Samuel Egwu in Abuja over the crisis. The Guardian learnt that the parley, which is to hold at the National Universities Commission (NUC) secretariat in Abuja at 4pm, would be preceded by a meeting between ASUU and Governor Oshiomhole at the Labour House, headquarters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at 11am.
