You can send me an email to ayomidej@rocketmail.com and I can do some testing for you. I am not an expert but will try.

A fresh install of smf should not behave like that. Those problems you have mentioned are probably caused by a modification you have installed. If you are modding forums, always keep a local copy to test things on step by step. The best thing you can do now is to re-trace your steps through the modding process or reinstall the board from the scratch. The second option is easier though since you do not have any members on your board yet. Wish you all the best. Olawunmi, Sales rep., Hostmot ( www.hostmot.com)

Go to the general settings page. If you have SMTP setting from your host. fill it in in the appropriate section. If you don't have SMTP account, then set it to use PHPMail function.
I hope that will solve your problem

Yeah the settings for activation emails are set both in your smf admin panel under server settings, while the others are from your sites cpanel. The one of posts stacking in the reverse direction can be fixed under themes and layout then modify themes, then you set the options for your theme. These problems arise probably because your host uses a non standard cpanel. Contrary to what someone posted mods cannot cause those problems. Disable registration by activation emails so that you can get people on your forum while you fix the problem. For further help, contact me
