While it is welcoming the big picture none is talking about is how will Ateke function in a society in which he has killed or maim indigenes from other tribes in this course of his illicit plundering and killings. While it may be a relief to the life-blood/mainstay of nigeria, plenty people children wey im kill dey wait for am for revenge when im come out from the creeks. Perhaps Yar go kukuma keep am for Abj under im wings, him and his followers. Otherwise he'd become a sitting duck watching over his head every night and day waiting for a bullet to severe his neck from his body. That naim b d fear. The fear of being killed by an unkown many-the unseen multitude. The arena is clear, let's watch the parade.

It is indeed unfortunate that so much wreckless waste of human lives took place before the need to address the Delta issue was forced on our inept
government. Who could have again predicted that a ruthless killer, Ateke Tom, would be flown one day in a presidential jet to shake hands with the president. Our leaders have demonstrated over time that they are misfits making everyone suffer grave harm through  their gross incompetence. How long shall we continue to bear this rot in our common existence and generations to come. Cant we act and force them out so that capable hands (which we are not in shortage of) be at the helm of affairs and steer this country towards necessary growth and development.

Since the federal governmwnt declared this amnesty, there has been noticeable frenzy on the part of some governors and politician from the affected states to out do each other in an attempt to capture public imagination and retain presidential attention as one that delivered the most militants. It's so disgusting to watch militants parades and photo shoots by the state governors and top government officials that have practically abandoned state functions. see all the crooks called politician engage militants in talks, conferences and negotiation as though their primary function is to capture millitants and hand them over to yaradua, one begin to wonder why they waited for the federal government to declare it before jumping at it.

The amnesty has at best an ill conceived initiative packaged as a favor and delivered to the people of niger delta as a take it or be damned policy, for the politicians, the crises presents a ready opportunity to negotiate the creation of intervention agencies with bloated budgetary and extra budgetary votes that will be fritered away in corruption infested ministries like NNDC, PTDF and the newly created ministry of niger delta. For the chief and elders of the region, the crises present an opportunity for relevance and quick cash.

Its really a shame Undecided

1: it is only in Nigeria that a Chronic Nationalist will take up office with a tyrannic government
2: it is only in Nigeria that a Militant will accept amnesty without ensuring that whatever he was fighting for has been resolved or is on the path of resolution.
3: It is only in Nigeria that you are declared wanted if you cannot be found, arrested or engaged in military fashion without gettign beat

Ateke Tom is a Traitor, he should be punished just as the coup plotters. but what did they do, they give him millions of cash and a handshake,  he will be very useful come 2011 (Ask peter odili)  Grin

What goes round comes round. The day ya man be president, we go talk? All na d same people .

Mallam and tk22ng go to the samemarket and na d same wind dey blow everybody.
