Dear Nairalanders,

I use Nokia 3250 with Symbian 3rd Edition which its not easy to get Symbian Applications that works with it. As such I decided to creat this forum for Nokia 3250 Users or Other Symbian 3rd Edition phones (such as N-Series).

Please no questions or problems regarding other symbian phones should be in here, only Symbian 3rd Edition should be discussed.

You may share softwares for the Nokia Symbian 3rd Edition, themes for respective phones or JAVA Aplications.

problem is most folks don't know that the 3250 will not allow *.sis files to install on it and so they keep trying to install *.sis applications that run on other symbian phones on their 3250. hear this: only *.sisx files will install on 3250! unfortunately they don't come so easy. anyhow, most softwares for phones now come in *.jar form. usually, midp2 java applications will install nicely on your 3250. presently, you can get applications like bibles, quaran, dictionaries etc as java applications. still having problems? post them right here.

NEVER! Nokia 3250 Surely Accepts .SIS Files, infact all the softwares in my 3250 (Symbian 3rd Edition Phone) are .SIS files,

The .SIS files that does NOT work with 3250 are probabbly for Sybmain 1st Edition or the 2nd Edition (such as 6600, 7610, 6630, 6680, 6681, 6670,
N70 or N90)

All .SIS Files for Sybian 3rd Edition (Such as 3250, 5500, N80, N91, N93, N71, N73, N72 and  E60 - E61-E70) definitely has to work with 3250 as it is part of them.

Hoping you fully understood!

It's like you are a fan of mobile telephony! I need you for my project.

rufai, u don't have to crucify me. haba! truth is, MOST sis files will not install on 3250! granted that presently most developers are upgrading their softwares (sis) for compatibility with 3250 but not much. if u must know, even a number of applications that install nicely on other 3rd editions will not run well on 3250!

hi guys am nu here it really cool to be  a nigerian forum i feel so at home, ok ok, to my point, nokia 3250,n91,n80 and most of the new generation of nokia's s60 phone  now come with a nu os which is known as 3rd edition or s60 v9.1,   and one of the unique things about this new os is that.all the .sis application of older generation mainly 1st editions(n3650,n6600,7610) and 2nd editions (n6630,n6680,n70) nokia fones wont work on the n3250 and other 3rd edition fones.and the reason being that the the source code of the 3rd edition os is seperated fron the the gui of the of the operating system.the result is that nokia can make a fones with different screen resolutions that still run on the same platform.hence u  have e61 and n73 with resolution 320x240,and 5500and 3250 with a smaller resolution running on the same s60 3rd edition.unlike the earlier fones  where the source and the gui where fused. also the os come s with very tight security and only apps with nokia digital sigature can work on the 3rd edition os.so it would be hard for virus to affect the os, so as it is s60 1st and 2nd editions and a completly different os from the nu s60 3rd edtions

Although there are Video ringtone but I have searched around to see if I can get a Video ringtones but most of the one's saw would be either in the UK, Europe and you have to pay for them before you will be able to have access to what you need.

So in the process of searching i came accross this WATCHTONE STUDIO 1.0.

With this yopu will be able to use prerecorded videos and will be able to create your own clip

Visit the link below to read and download the ware.

But they say in my language that "Obe to dun Owo Lopa"

So to download you have make the payment of $24.95

After the payment it will be foreverly yours "Pardon Mi"

I already had watch tones, but that is only for series 60 devices, they don't support 3rd edition phones, finding the video files is not the problem, I have

tons of music video files already, Its the program that is needed to be installed on your phone that I am searching for. I have skyetones and it works

fine, but for some reason on my particular phone, it doesn't always work when running in the background, so I have to have it open in the fore front at all

times to make sure the videos play when a call is recieved, So I am looking for any other video ringtone software that I could try to see if my little nagging

problem goes away.

P.S

what other cool apps does anybody have. I have a few but they trials.

@bigrovar

wot precisely do you mean that "source code is separated from gui"? symbian does not have an on the fly compiler, apps come precompiled and run on the os 9.x kernel, gui is implemented in nokia's series 60, which is in the 3rd edition in os9 fones. the series 60 itself rides on the symbian kernel but is not a predeterminant of execution/runtime of binaries. its only an interface.
native os 6/7/8 apps are binary incompatible with os9 because the os9 kernel was designed differently from other versions to incorporate better security, and is not an extension of previous os. apps of the .sis extension run on the os9 machine because such apps are ported, which means that they were RECOMPILED os7/os8 binaries. apss with the .sisx extension are written from the ground up to work with os9 devices, not merely ported apps.

also, i felt i should point out that 3rd edition does not automatically mean OS9.x, 3rd edition refers to the series 60 GUI version, not the Operating System (OS). for example N70, N90, N72 etc are all 3rd edition devices, but they are NOT OS9 devices; they run on OS8, (same as 6630, 6680 etc, which are all 2nd edition devices).
