Nigerian Pastors Are Shameless
« on: October 03, 2009, 01:28 PM »

If i am asked to describe these guys, i will call them shameless people, as an atheist, if i am to go back to religion again, i will prefere Islam over Nigerian christianity,

What we see today is just too funy and a product of hunger, deciet, desire to dominate, rule, infleunce and excercise power over desperate Nigerians, by their so called pastors, they find it very easy and lucrative becsause ever before colonisation , our people are very superstitious people who believe that a key stroke, a word, a miracle, an annointing, a touch of hand on their heads will change their lives for better, our people dont want to confront the harsh truth of reality that for one to succeed, he/she must work very hard, instead they believe that they can manurver life reality by praying for divine favor and intervention, smart and con men took advantage of this guilibity in them to exploit them in the name of God,

The latest trend today is a word called Seed sowin for divine favor, a situation, where by a smart guy will put on his suit, come on the pulpit and lift the microphone, and start telling crowd of desperate church members how God will divinely motivate men and women to use their recources to favor them, if they sow seed in his life, he will go as far as telling lies of stories of places he went and people sowed seed and he prayed and God blessed them and their lives changed for good, he will tell them , how some body sowed a seed of 50,000naira in his life last year, and two months later, a white man saw the seed sower and gave him a contract that fetched him 50million naira, after hearing all these, the desperate crowed will start imagining a million naira life style they will lead if they sow their last 50,000naira into the life of the man of God, they will never ask themselves,  if this pastor has an annointing that can turn 50, 000naira into 50million naira, why is he still begging for ordinary 50,000naira,

the funniest thing about it, is that after sowing, their live remains the same and the pastors life will improve with monies he has conned from people in the name of God, and the people will not learn from it, next time another con man will come with the same strategy and loot them again,

Nigerians please learn. Nothing good comes easily, you must work for it, dont be decieved by people who promise you a sudden finanacial turn around, some of us have been there, there is nothing like an instant rise in life, before you achieve succes in life, you must break bones and wack joints.

@Banom,

Bros I feel your pain o!

I understand you're an atheist, but I'd like you to know that true biblical Christianity in itself is nothing like what these armed robbers in suit have twisted it to be for selfish reasons. The bible itself is full of warnings about such men! What baffles me is the skillfulness with which these men twist the gospel! If it weren't such a damnable thing they're doing, I think it would've been a good idea if they were all given awards!

Whats happening is also something the bible predicts will happen in latter times:

3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings,

4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths.

II Timothy 4:3-4 RSV

As a christian, I admit the trend is an extremely shameful one.  Undecided

You cant really blame people for moving agriculture to the church, it is stress free (no digging, ploughing, weeding e.t.c.), time to harvest is shorter, returns are higher (afterall, if you use N50K to cultivate maize or yam in the field, your harvest is never going to yield as much as N50million) or so it seems. There is the possibility of food shortage in the future if this trend continues as more & more people will prefer sowing in the church instead of planting yam or cassava in the field Grin Grin Grin

I guess its desperation/frustration. You have the politicians to thank as well. You dont get the kind of crowd in church these days 10/15 years back. Economic and societal demand really push a lot of people to the point of accepting anything you feed them if it will get them out of their current sitiuation. The pastors are aware of this and uses it to their advantage.

There is a simple answer for this:   Most Nigerians are dumb, credulous, gullible people.  In fact, most people the world over are like that too.

Proportionately, Nigerians are overwhelmingly subscribed to this "business"  compared to other nations.  Yes, there are dumb people in all nations, but Nigeria is over-supplied with these dumbtards.

True - in fact, down my street here in Manchester, there are two Nigerian Pastors within 100m of each other.  Each time I walk in down town Manchester, in areas with high African population I get given tracks, leaflets, fliers of churches, ministries, healing this, miracle that, by Nigerians.

Must everybody be rich - why don't people realise that sometimes Gods blessings come in many way.

I can't stand so called men of God conning desperate people. Another thing that annoys me about our people - is tagging people as witches and wizards.

banom my man I fee you jo.
Just a couple of weeks ago a neighbor was complaining bitterly to my mum, it turns out that her daughter was on the verge of losing her husband. In the quest for this divine favour she had sowed almost everything in her house, jewelry electronics name it. Her husband was furious and left her with her kids and she still sows more in the hope that her husband will comeback. Now the poor woman got wind that the man has fled to the Uk and she is left to feed her daughter and grand kids,  Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

Shameless is too mild a word these pastors make me sick!

I am a christian and i believe in God and that Jesus is the son of God and through him will i see the kingdom. I also believe in the bible and it's teachings and part of the teachings is that we must make offerings and pay our tithe. But these so called pastors are testing me seriously. God also gave me free will to make up my own mind and make my own decisions. I have come to the conclusion that most of these pastors are crooks and are preying on people. But that will not stop me from paying my tithe and offerings because ultimately it is God i am giving and since i believe in him and his devine justice, surely their time will come. Can you imagine, buying jets that their flock cannot use. Building schools that the congregation cannot afford. The message is no longer salvation but the aqcuisiton of wealth. Well God de.

Have you bothered to ask yourself why it is that God's institution is so easily corruptible?  Have you bother to ask what happens to the tithes you "pay"?  How is this money being put to God's work?  If you really wanted to do God's work with your money, why don't you give it directly to some needy kid or begger?
