Can Anybody Help Me Fix My Video Ipod?

I seem to have a bad firmware, I can't keep it in disk mode for more than a minute or so. By the time my computer recognizes it, it resets.

I've tried everything people say. Including buying a new hard drive (ebay). Does anybody here have any information?
