As Pdp Govs Adopt Yar' Adua, The Political Totopoly Has Begun

PDP Govs Adopt Yar' Adua , is the headline of The Guardian on Saturday.

The other governors of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Nigeria have stepped down for Governor Umaru Yar'Adua of Katsina State in the presidential primaries. But who is this man?

The name Yar' Adua is always attributed to the late Gen. Shehu Musa Yar'Adua, the elder brother of Umaru Yar'Adua. And majority of Nigerians don't know this younger Yar' Adua. And is this two-term governor of Katsina state, the best choice of the PDP?

This development in the PDP is going to excite their rivals. And the Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would be really amused. Because, Governor Umaru Yar' Adua cannot challenge the might of the Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Colossus of the Northern Political Caucus.

The only Northerner who can stop Atiku is the evil genius of Nigerian politics himself, the machevilian Prince of the Niger, the retired General Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda, a.k.a IBB. Because, only IBB has the political clout to overcome Atiku Abubakar in the Political Totopoly of the coming Presidential Election in Nigeria.

I am disappointed that all the Presidential aspirants from the South-South of Nigeria gave up to the power brokers from the Northern Political Caucus of the PDP. The most disappointing of all is Mr. Donald Duke, the charismatic Governor of Cross River State. Because, he is actually the popular choice of the new breed of the Nigerian electorate who believe that Nigeria deserves new leaders who have a universal vision for the nation building of a New Nigeria in the leadership of Africa among the comity of nations in the new millennium.

The count down to the Presidential Election in April 2007 will be thrilling.

Which one be "totopoly"? As for the governors in the south south; they have recognized that in politics they still are rookies. What has happened is an eye opener. They should have counted the costs before entering the ring. My apologies to Donald Duke who was misled into this whole debacle.
