Hi fellows, you guys are like family now.I have a pressing problem at work.
I just received a job offer. On resumption of duties i would be sent to SouthAfrica for a two-month training.I would be entitled to an official car,a Two bedroom flat and a starting salary of 80Grand per month upon my return. However to accept the offer I would have to be BONDED to this company for a minimum of FOUR years!
I just graduated with a 2:1 in Mechanical Engineering and I believe my prospects are high!
Should I accept the BOND?
Please advise me accordingly.

Firstly- PRAY, God will never mislead you. It means at least you have job security for 4 years . If there's a chance your salary will be reviewed WHY NOT? Not to mention all the skills and knowledge you stand to gain. Dont be afraid of humble beginnings o! (not so humble sef!) abi you have another offer?

It's not worth it. forget it, there are better offers, even if there is none other for now, be faithful, this bonding is not of God!!! Run for your dear life.

My friend, Just thank God that you got a job. You know how difficult it is to get a job. Just accept the job and 4yrs is not that long. Best of luck.

Good to hear you have a job with all those benefits attached. There are many sectors you can practise your profession as a Mechanical Engineer, but do you like the sector you want to enter now.If you are indifferent to working in a particular sector, l advise you accept the offer. 80k, official car, lnternational training and a 2-bedroom flat is a good start & be rest assured that a company offering you that much will double that salary for you in a year. Forget the bond, by the time you spend 4 good years, you would have become a professional in that field. Even if you want to leave, there will be conditions for breaking the bond. Most time, you have to refund some heavy amount of money. With this, no wahala; because the company that will want to take you will be willing to pay off the company on your behalf, because they really want you [so just try and be made in your career in that place, so that it will be easy for you to leave when you want to]

I agree with ekunet(d 1st), pray n den list all d benefits u stand to gain (job security, experience, a new certificate and there may stil be more ahead, opportunity to visit S/A, u do not have to kil urself at work to kep your job, etc, ) and also list d demerit(u may get a better job at any oil comp., a scholarshp or even win d visa lottery next yr, etc, ) and weigh the two. Most importantly, if u are a christian, den see your PASTOR, GOD speaks thru dem, note: he must be your pastor. Dnt mind my spelln, I am using my celtel phone. Adams

Personally, i think you should take it. Just as Kennykay said, most of this bond has the choice of paying some amount of money if u have to leave before then. The job sounds nice and i think they have your interest at haert with all those benefits. It might just be what God has planned for you. What if you start and you find out you might just like to spend more that 4yrs there. Most companies this days are planning bond o because they don't want to train you and you leave. You might leave the place and even get a place worse. Though our prospects are high but please pray so that you don't throw what is yours away.
There are so many people out there that pray every day and nite to be in your shoes.

Thank God for you. This isn't a problem at all. It's a miracle. Don't even think about it. The job is yours already. grab it before you loose it. What other prospects are you saying you have. So many out there with better grades than you with less pay and remuneration. Dont stay too long taking a decision before your employers find these (better) people. Dont pay attention to that ai?
Congrats and thanking the Lord on your behalf cos it appears you dont know what you have.

What is your carrer plan like? What do you want to be in the next 2yrs? What do you want to be in the next 4yrs? Will be job if you accept it help you to chieve your career goal? If it happens that you must leave within four years, is there a monetary refund to the company? Four years is much but, your career plan will surely determine wether you will accept it or not. A friend of mine that we were employed the same day left within one month b/c he job does not allow him to pursure his carrer goal.

My advice to u is that u should first consider if the job is in line with your career plan . also consider how old u are now and in 4 years time how old u are going to be . My guy , out there is pretty rough . u got a job and u are still complaining of bond . The bond is only 4 years and 4 years is not that long . U could build your career there and achieve alot within 4 yrs after which u will know if u want to continue with them , move to another job , go get further degrees or even having your own company .
Just jump for joy and thank God . 2.1 in mechanical engineering full for town no think say thats the ultimate .
Take care
