Afrocentric Lyrics?
« on: December 20, 2006, 06:36 AM »

Artist/Song name- Akon Mama Africa lyrics
From the album- Konvicted (2006)

So much so much love
so much
so tell me can you feel it
so much so much yeah
ya know
make that visit
so much so much love
So much
Synagogue can you feel it
so much so much yeah
so much

So much love to share
pure blackness, oneness so rare
so much love to give
let them know they're missin' out
mama Africa
has so much love to share
sweet blackness, oneness
meet me there
So much love to give
let them know they missin' out
sing again

This is for all the love
and the life took away
don't forget we were born in trade
are ripped from the land and shipped away
I
is the inspiration we used to survive
See
have to see it with your own cries
Don't play
add it up and alright
still ya don't know

Land is so gold and green
The place is so fresh and clean
And everyday I water my garden
Tell me if you feel it deep in your heart
Visit once, guaranteed to visit twice
and if you just believe in the most high
I know you'll be alright

Mama Africa
pure blackness, oneness so rare
so much love to give
and let them know they're missin' out
mama Africa
has so much love to share
sweet blackness, oneness
meet me there
So much love to give
let them know they missin' out
sing again

A
that's my favorite place when I need to get away
F
must forget but we can't forget to pray
R
Like Lance ridin' on the runway
I
In my homeland and I'm feelin' so alive
C
Hear me chant Africa unite
A
Gonna accept mass alright

Still ya don't know
Skin is so dark and brown
she lifts me right off the ground
But no ya not going to see it on ya tv
so just listen up and believe me
her trees have the only cure
Her love is so and pure
had to kiss them troubles goodbye bye
no I don't have to like mama Africa, unite

pure blackness, oneness so rare
so much love to give
let them know they're missin' out
mama Africa
so much love to share
sweet blackness, oneness
be there
So much love to give
let them know they missin' out
sing again

So much so much love
so tell me can you feel it
so much so much
make that visit
so much so much love
Synagogue can you feel it
so much so much
Ow!
So much love to share
I just can't see how we livin' without it
So much love to give
Don't miss don't miss one moment about it
so much love to share
Resist this miss
I really doubt it
so much love so much love to share
oh yeah
pure blackness, oneness so rare
so much love to give
let them know they're missin' out
feelin' it all the time
sweet blackness, oneness
meet me there
better be there
let them know they're missin' out
sing again

iice,

I like it.

Africans should show their pure blackness and oneness:

So much love to share
pure blackness, oneness so rare
so much love to give
let them know they're missin' out
mama Africahas so much love to share
sweet blackness, oneness
meet me there
So much love to give
let them know they missin' out
sing again

With the African people they are just meeting:

This is for all the love
and the life took away
don't forget we were born in trade
are ripped from the land and shipped away
I
is the inspiration we used to survive
See
have to see it with your own cries
Don't play
add it up and alright
still ya don't know

That is what I am hearing. Beautiful coming from an Continental African.

Donzman,

Of course you advocate constantly for there to be no separation between the black and white because of skin color.

And of course you advocate for division among blacks due to skin color.

Your perfectly consistent.

You're not black, you're of mixed race, you know, a mixture of black/white?, Are we delusional here?, Blood + Water doesn't equal blood. Black + white doesn't equal black, thank you !

If you choose not to accept white people then the same will be dished back to you, only mixed race people should accept you. Don't be a hypocrite, if you want to divide, then let's divide it down to the basics. Black/White/Mixed Race, thank you and bless you!

Donzman,

Your stupid. White + even one drop of Black = Black.

There is no such thing as a mixed race.

A race or species or ethnicity has to be able to reproduce itself.

Mixed race people can not reproduce themselves.

They would have to invite the Blacks and Whites to come and make more Mixed race people.

So stop being stupid.

yeah blacks have the dominant gene but did you hear about the mixed couple that gave birth to a white (blue eyed, blond) baby?
there is such thing as mixed.
even though the american culture doesn't recognize it as such.
if you are mixed and live in nigeria, you will be refered to as 'oyibo' =white.

I think it's quite unfair to anyone that's mixed with black and any other race but automatically considered just black.

There's an article actually of a black woman who had a twins with her German husband. One of the twins is completely black just like the mother and the other is white as snow like the father. It's really weird.

Wesleyan,

I have quite a few blue eyed, green eyed, blonde haired Black neices and nephews.

Not one of them has a white parent, they all have mixed parents.

All of their birth certificates say Black.

I met a white girl once with a black baby who had beautiful blue eyes and dark skin. She was so excited and told me how her black boyfriend saved the babies life. (The baby was allergic to milk and the black boyfriend knew that babies could eat because AA feed their kids much earlier than whites (except those in the south who were raised by African American mammies and do a lot of Black things).

I have a very light mixed African friend, who on business trips to Nigeria has been asked to sleep with some of the village women because they wanted light babies.

I'm very aware that in Ghana right now they have a campaign to stop the Ghanians from calling African Americans --Oyibo or what have you. They instead are encouraging them to call them sister or brother. Apparently the African American tourist will burst into tears when they realize they are being called -- white. So the government is stepping in to protect tourism.

As to in America, everybody with one drop of black being considered black, there is a plain and simple and ancient reason for this: Money.

If having only 1 drop entitled whites to do the exact same things to if not worse things to "mixed blacks", then why when money is divided up now, should we suddenly voluteer to let whites off the hook?

Voting power and many other things are decided by race. Suddenly those whites don't want the one droppers to count because that would help blacks?

Well, they should not have put those one droppers through hell for the last 388 years.

Wesleyan,

In America such babies are regularily called Black. Soon that baby would grow up and cuss people out, who tried to say that he was not Black.

In America we have "invisible blackness".

A white woman who said that she was sick to her stomach when she found out she was black and could not get out of bed for 3 days because of being hurt by it. Was told by a judge that she could not change her birth certificate to say white, even though her Black relative was 234 years earlier. She had never known that she was the descendant of a Black person so light they passed into whiteness.

This was in the last 20 years.

Doctors in America have orders? to write down the race of the baby, even if the parent will not write it down.

The idea is that once you have even one drop of Black blood in you, you are diseased.

When one russia black royal member of the family's 4th great grandchild (no black in sight) was to marry somebody in england of royal blood, the press actually talked about the idea that the clearly 'white' person could bring a 'black' baby into the royal family.

Again the idea of one drop of black blood, is neither just in America and it is neither gone from the defacto laws nor is it just the Blacks who do it now.

@Drusilliar hypocrite

You choose to accept that now because white people said so?  Cheesy

Not only that, you now want us to accept you as black even though it goes against a typical Nigerian's definition of a black person,  because white people said so?

Mazaje,

It's amazing to me that my neices, nephews have blond hair and blue eyes and their birth certificate says they are Black.

And some how the message still has not gotten through the thickheads of some that what African Americans are talking about is not in the least bit related to skin color.

We actually call worrying about skin color = Colorism.

It is a different problem than Racism, Imperialism, Systematic and Institutional Racism that we complain about.

But it seems a lot of people want to remain confused by that and accuse us of worrying about skin color, when we ourselves have every skin color from white to Black and every thing in between.
