2009 MAMA Awards is reportedly “bananas” as Wyclef and 2Face bring down “da house.” Group performances on stage so far: Wyclef with Akon, 2face, HHP and Sound Sultan, Lira, Pype & MI, Mohits Pending. Wyclef also pays tribute and indtroduces the 2009 MAMAs Hip-hop Legend Awards which goes to the late Reggae Icon Lucky Dube.
The shortlist of winners as the event is happening right this moment includes:
1. Best Listener’s Choice Awards, Kenya’s Nameless
2. Best New Act, Nigeria’s M.I.
3. Best Group, Nigeria’s P.Square
4. Best Female, Kenya’s Amani
5. Best Performer, Ghana’s Samini

8. Best Alternative, South Africa’s Zebra & Giraffee

why?
there are a lot of good artist that deserve the award and recognition.
some people think that the awards are being bought. hmmmm, maybe? ? ?
cause it seems these same people are winning all the time.
its time for new people and new faces.
or maybe its cause the others arent popular enough, but these awards are starting to get boring oo.

.2face and M.I did nt win MAMA last year.though d'banj and psquare are winning this year award with the same song that won them the award last year,that i think is not right.but all the same naija won the highest number of awards just like we did in abuja last year. |

thats very true and its very annoying. MAMA clearly say MTV AFRICAN Music Awards i dont see why they keep nominating Americans. what is the obsession? do these American artist really care if they win some petty African music award? they are talking Grammy's and things like that. but i guess its a way to bring more attention to the African music awards that take place. |

Lol, they do that sometimes. The BRITS awards in the UK gave Robbie Williams about ten awards in two years for the same album, I am somewhat disappointed though no surprises. But I am happy, Naija has the whole thing on lock. |
