African americans always talk about reparations, if not that they talk about how Africans sold them, etc I love all blacks but they(african americans) seem to be the most opportuned and yet the most foolish ones; I mean if you look at their statistics, they top the most in American crime rate, they don't like to go to school, they think stupidity is gansta, they don't know their history, they are more ignorant than the whites etc.
Whites offer more opportunities and aid to the carribians and Africans than blacks and am talking on an individual scale. A white don't need to know anyone to travel to Africa or the carribian, they go only because they are curious or intrested. Another thing is that an african american will always try to make a case of how he is maybe 40%black and 60%other races just so that they are different like anyone cares. They also discriminate against African americans or islanders because they know where exactly their ancestors are from.
When I was in America, I met some cool headed African americans but only a few should I call three a few. They are so all about welfare and being ignorant that it buggles my mind to remember what a very boy said when he learn't about Martin Luther king's history and death. Am talking about a ten year old boy, who said don't you think it was a black man who killed King. After reflecting i kind of bought into that because they can also be so jealous in the land of opportunity.

C'mon abeg don't blame em all o.  We also can't blame all white people for all that had happenened.  We have to stop blamin all muslims 4 what alqaedans r doing.   What about the Yoruba muslims, do u know about them.  Have they not always being mostly peaceful?  Can't we boil down the issues to the problematic ones.  What if i say that i had experienced alot with some Blacks, but i know too well to keep in mind of the nice ones that always back me up.  Be truthful and be fair.  Our words can be higly damagin!!!  Drusilla thank for your strength

Those you are talking about are uneducated.  Or even if they are, they maybe confuse not knowing who to trust.   They actually have all rights to be furious.  I know exactly how some of us natives diss them 4 nothing.  Those of us that do-are also uneducated.  The pain of not knowing-because if u do you will feel 4 them. You tell me something Who is Sojourner Truth, Nat Turner, Eli Whitney, John Brown? i hope u know atleast one?

Much love Al Raheem. It's good to hear a voice of reason.

I am an educated, young African American architect. I am three years out of high school and I am half way towards by architecture degree. I work at an architecture firm during the day and I school at night. My parents are pretty successful adults. I am mature and I am more responsible than any other 20 year olds I know, regardless of age.

Yet, I still can't turn my back on my people, the poor, oppressed people in the United States (and Africa for that matter). What I don't understand is why a lot of Africans, when they get successful, must get pleasure out of using words like Akata against us and calling us irresponsible, stupid, lazy, and complainers. A lot of the Nigerians I know do not like African Americans, they treat me as if I am different from many of my brothers and sisters in America. But I am not different, I am just lucky, I come from the same place as the poor and uneducated, many of them are my very close relatives. I have cousins in jail, a brother who was killed in a drug related shooting, and more. I will never turn my back on my people.

Some unintelligent individual (naijaway) that just wrote a message said that "whites go to Jamaica because they are curious and care about the world around them". She also said that white people are smarter and care about the world. You are wrong my friend. That is the fatal flaw of the African - their lack of proximity to the ignorant white majority in America. White Americans go to Jamaica to be in closed off resorts that make them feel like they are in florida and slave-like natives wait on them making them feel like kings. Plenty of Americans couldn't find the places to which they travel on a map. This is reality. Only 1/4 high schoolers in America could locate the Nation's capital on a map. Even less could locate the country of Iraq, and this was DURING the early stages of the wars AGAINST Iraq. White Americans are more naive and ignorant than anyone else here. I am telling you this as a FACT.

Do you know anything about housing descrimination in America? How about job discrimination? It's blantant. White Americans were GIVEN subsidized land and homes up until the 1960s when black americans couldnt even get a loan, and even today the average black family has 11% of the net worth of the average white family. Did you know this? How about this one: the average black family that makes 300,000 per year has the same net worth as the average white family that makes 60,000 per year. Wealth travels through the generations, REGARDLESS of salary. You don't know much about the American experience and the mental oppression of being an INVOLUNTARY minority in a country that isn't yours. We are a population that wasn't even allowed to read until just generations ago. You seem to believe that whites dominate America because they are smart and intellectual and try hard - NO. It's called white privilege. America has a problem in general with not caring about the rest of the world, both white and black. Young blacks are so discouraged by the racial climate and America's horrible public education system that they often are lost and confused and don't even know what to do. Being young, poor, and black in America makes you feel insignificant, do you understand the psycological effects of a whitewashed culture? Meanwhile, their fathers of these young blacks are being imprisoned at recordbreaking rates, not because of the severity of the crime but because of the severity of the punishment, by far the most severe in the world. There is no paying off cops in America like hustlers in Nigeria can do. One in eight prisoners in the world are African American. Drugs are huge here. Do you know how MILLIONS of tons or drugs are purposely let to enter the United States, and subsequently the uneducated are the ones that need the drug money and suffer while the US gives weapons to the drug farmers?

But somehow, we aren't an oppressed people, and instead of showing black solidarity, some Africans would rather point fingers and talk about how great whites are. I am not one of the AA that say Africans shouldn't have sold us into slavery. That is bull-shit, NO ONE that I have EVER encountered here in AMerica has said that BS about Africans trading us. Africa suffered dearly because of the slave trade. Many Africans were FORCED to give in their own people because they'D be killed if they didn't. Africa was robbed and Europeans, not Africans, profited from the trade. Do you know who started the whole conversation about African-Americans being mad at Africans for selling them into slavery? You guessed it - whites that do not want their people to take responsibility for what they did. They'D rather blame slavery on the Africans so that whites can continue to worship perverted, rapist murders like George Washington and so WE (AAs and Africans) can fight each other instead of claiming what we deserve.

So there it is, you can continue to be a "tribalist" African that not only doesn't like AAs but dislikes other African tribes if you want. But me - I am beyond that. I have adapted to the new world in witch we have all been under attack for hundreds of years, and I understand that we must stick together. Some people are incapable of understanding what I am talking about, probably you naijaway. Am I just some dumb Akata? No, I am far wiser than just about everyone that I encounter on a regular basis. Some of you need to wake up and adapt to the world we live in. A lot of Africas are  so wrapped up in the large continent that they see whites as their friends and other blacks as the bad people. Not seeing their oppressors in Europe and America on a daily basis, many Africans are unable to place their finger on who their oppressor is. They don't realize America supplies the arms that africans in the Congo, for example, use to main each other. Can we have some solidarity please? Or are you just going to call me a lazy Akata and go along your merry way, striving toward material goals and talking down about other AFRICANS.

Yes, I said AFRICANS. Africa is no longer one continent. Africans were stolen, so there are Africans all around the world. Listen to black American speech and music. The black american English that you probably look down upon has a COMPLETELY African sentence structure and grammar. The African influence is strong enough to slap you in the face. Look at the family structure and how we, too, call family friends auntie and uncle when there is no blood relation. Africans in America, Brazil, jamaica, etc, all have these similarities.

So go along your merry, ignorant way Naijaway and those who agree with him. But don't say I didn't warn you. You have now been informed. Can we please stop fighting eachother? It's self hatred and ignorance, and I will not take part.

Much Love Al Raheem, I like how you think

I am actually very new.

Before the post that I just made, I had only posted one other time, a few weeks ago, I was talking about the dangers of worshiping the religion that Europeans used to enslave and kill millions, a religion that was forced on us. But that is for another discussion,

But other than that, this was my first post on here. I got interested since I have a Nigerian fiancee. Her parents hate me, needless to say.

I'm around.

Let's talk man, you seem really enlightened. It's all about the truth man.

Thanks for the warm welcome Al Raheem. I really appreciate it.

A list of people to avoid would be great.

I will keep sista and drusilla in mind,

About my girlfriend. She is Nigerian and also a free thinker like us, just not as much of an activist, but I think she is taking on a lot of my activist spirit because I talk to her. Her parents on the other hand, backwards. They think that it is more important to buy nice curtains for the house than to educate their own children. Very materialistic. They sent my girlfriend to a worse college because they didn't want to pay a little more for her to go to a better one and they refuse to co-sign on a loan to help her pay for summer classes that will facilitate her education. But, what can I say, I just have to hope that they turn around somehow.

Wow, that was pretty negative, wasn't it? lol. I don't mean to badmouth, but some people just annoy me to the bone. I value education over EVERYTHING. You sell your house to pay for your kids education.

Anyway, I love my girlfriend very much and she is worth the hurdle of dealing with family members that don't approve of me.

@Cavsman, there is really not much to worry about.  Except to be aware alot of people on here don't always show their age.  And u will find them arguing or makin smart remarks @ one.  This only  show they are not on your level.  But then again how old does  a person have to be to be Smart when it is as simple as just being truthful like u stated earlier.  I am so glad that u are advance for u age-it is a priceless value to have.
