Aston Villa - Chelsea On Saturday October 17th [2-1]
« on: October 15, 2009, 12:49 PM »

After the two-week international break, the Premier League returns and in this weeks early fixture, Aston Villa welcome league leaders Chelsea to Villa Park in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
Villa sitting snugly in 7th position on the table behind Liverpool, but with a game in hand are hoping to hand Chelsea their 2nd consecutive defeat on the road. Gabriel Agbonlahor, Villa's top goalscorer and himself in fine form at the moment will be looking to add to his tally of 4.
Chelsea who have had a great start to the season and had suffered their 1st shock defeat in an embarrassing 3-1 loss at wigan, recovered to beat Liverpool 2-0 at stamford bridge before the break.
Having not lost any player to injury in the course of international duty, they will once again turn to their talismanic forward and highest goal scorer Didier Drogba, who with a shipload of goals and assists has been a major force for his team. Petr Cech, who sat out the game at liverpool owing to his sending off at Wigan will be welcomed back to the side, as Hilario who deputised in his absence and who gave a powerful rendition of himself against liverpool makes way.
While a win for Villa will see them leapfrog liverpool and Arsenal into 5th place, although temporarily, a Chelsea win will see them open a 5point gap at the top of the table.

my verdict villa 3 chelsea 1

what lawro says:

Quote
Lots of these players have been on international duty and though it's not such a problem physically, I think mentally some of them might be a bit tired.

Chelsea's players were scattered all over the globe and I don't think this will turn out to be a classic. For the managers, it's just about getting through these types of games.

Verdict: 1-1

I must say, mykali is closest if not spot on with his prediction.
Aston villa will try to hold their own, but they'd eventually fall to superior fire power
