Eight States In Nigeria Will Soon Be Wiped Off By Flood
« on: October 16, 2009, 02:25 PM »

The states of Taraba, Adamawa, Kogi, Benue, Cross Rivers, Nassarawa, Plateau and  Enugu are on the danger list of been wiped out in less than 5 years when the Dam of  Lake Nyos will likely collapse.
In the event of the collapse of the dam, over 5 million cubic litters of water will be released, leading to flooding which will affect about 40 million Nigerians and animals.
it will submerge some areas in states such as Taraba, Benue, Cross River, Kogi and Enugu States etc.
Some parts of Makurdi town will submerge forever.
The lake contains carbon dioxide which will suffocate people from the Cameroun up to Adamawa
The issue came up at the Senate last week, The Government is still toying with their options on the issue.

I think that's the only active volcano in west Africa though I'm not sure.

can anything be done about this problem? Huh

except pray, because the last time it "erupted" and wiped out a whole village without any warning.

I dont know if there are any volcanologists in Africa.

God help us.

This same place has emitted carbon dioxide sometimes ago killing lots of people. The Federal Government announced that they'll release 26billion for to construct a dam to buffer the effect, but yet nothing has been released so far.
The people concerned are still moping going about their so called business till the day the flood will sweep them away. I pity Nigerians, even when their lives are at stake, they take action.

The government should call on Israel and South Africa to do something because when they were testing thermonuclear devices there in '86, they should've thought about this.

I'm sure they will be preparing their families to fly out of Nigeria. I pray Hurricane or tornado or tsunami happens the following week and sweep away their families. Amen!

Thanks for that link. Interesting info. It seems that Cameroon is planning to do something about it. Hopefully, the Nigerian government helps them because if anything goes wrong its gonna affect them both.
