Chelsea will host Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Chelsea lead the group D table with 6 points, while Atletico Madrid have got just one point.
Atletico have suffered a miserable start to the season, although a narrow home win against Zaragoza eased some of the pressure on coach Abel Resino before the international break.
Sadly, they lost their last La Liga game against Osasuna 3-0. Poor way of heading into the UCL against a team like Chelsea.
Sergio Aguero is one name to lookout for in attack though. Another one to inspire some curiosity is Jose Antonio Reyes in midfield. Defeating Chelsea at home will be some task, especially as the team isn't in form to begin with.
Chelsea remain as strong as usual, despite suffering back-to-back away defeats in the EPL, the 2nd of which was on Saturday against Aston Villa. From that game, it's certain now that Chelsea have got problems effectively defending set-pieces.
Strikers Didier Drogba and Anelka remain Carlo Ancelotti's first choice for this game, with Solomon Kalou likely to put in an appearance before the final whistle.
Lampard, Essien, Deco, Zhirkov, Mikel Obi are available options for the midfield, though a midfield containing Lampard and Essien is certain. Malouda wasn't too impressive against A.Villa, so Carlo might think twice about starting him.
Ivanovic was less than impressive on Saturday. . .Bosingwa remains first choice. Together with John Terry keeping things tight in the middle and Ashley Cole, Chelsea should be okay defensively as long as everyone does their job right. Carvalho has had some shaky moments as well. . .remains to be seen if Ancelotti will go with him on Wednesday or not.
All in all, Chelsea are the favorites for this game.
