Candidate for enlistment into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a rating must: Be a Nigerian citizen by birth, not be less than 18 and not more than 22 years of age on enlistment, be in possess/on of at least Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SSCE) or equivalent, be medically fit in accordance with the medical standards for the Nigerian Defence Academy, be unmarried on enlistment, be of good character and will be required to produce a certificate of good conduct from a responsible official of the Local Government Council where he/she resides. eg. Magistrate, Council Secretary, Superior Police Officer, Clergy or an officer not below the rank of Capt/Lt/Flt Lt and be free of any previous conviction by a court of law on criminal grounds.
