My Terrible Experience With Dana Airlines.
« on: October 20, 2009, 09:35 PM »

I am extremely pissed with dana airline.Me thinks they are the worst airline in nigeria especially in terms of logistics.though i dont know much about their safety standards.

I was going to Lagos for an interview from portharcourt, got my flight booked about 2weeks before the date and 2hrs 30mins before my departure from ph,i got a call from them telling me the flight had been rescheduled for the next day by 1:35pm,you can imagine the time for my interview was 10am.I had the option of an instant refund which i took and had to pay twice the amount for another flight with another airline.thank God i even got a flight or else i would have had to take a night bus and arrive lagos in 2days cos i learnt the road at ore is so bad people literally sleep there.

As though that was not enough,i got another call a night before my return to ph and was told that my flight had been cancelled and they were going to refund me my money.

Sincerely i had to console myself with the fact that maybe God just wanted to save me from death.cos i just cant imagine this kind of airline with such horrendous services adhering to  good safety standards. That said,i still have to find time to read the terms and conditions of the ticket and heaven help them let me not find out they had breeched my rights cos i plan on making good money from them at the law court.

please be warned.let dana be your last resort and dont book befor time.they are not organised at all.

sorry about your experience, feedback like this is important for people to know so Dana knows that others are aware of their poor services/lack of organization.

Sorry about that. I used to work for Dana and  I know Dana tries to avoid such situations. They are striving to be the best airline in Nigeria and I think they are doing their best although it is with reports such as yours that they make improvements.

I dont know if you'll be flying with Dana again (I sincerely hope you do), but they have feedback forms in the plane that you can fill stating your displeasure .You could even complain to one or two of the flight attendant as you board and I bet you you they will give you the best treatment you've ever had that day and for subsequent trips

Thanks a lot for your sympathy. They really need to improve their services.
The story didnt even end here.By the next day when i got to lagos airport to get another flight for my return,i succeeded in getting an arik flight for 12:30pm,and of course paid double the amount.Only for me to go to their station at the local airport and i was told to go to the mm2  wing if i wanted my refund[i would have expected they told me that when they called to cancel the flight ,when i enquired, the response was that i should have found out from the caller].On my way there,a friend of mine called me back saying that the arik flight had just made their final boarding announcement so i had to rush back.having paid #1500 for an airport taxi.
When i got back to ph,i tried calling them severally and was finally told that i had to come back to lagos to get my refund, when i tried explaining to them that i was going to be due back in december they rudely cut the phone on me.
Definitely,i will never fly dana again and advice everyone that cares to listen not to make reservations with them.maybe one can get their tickets right at the airport when one is sure the aircraft is on ground.but like i said earlier on,i can only deduce what their safety procedures would be from what i have experienced so far.I may be wrong but i stand to be corrected.
Thank you.

Quite frankly, Customer service in Nigeria is non-existent. We have learnt to manage everything from our leaders to businesses where we pay our hard earned money. We need to start demanding better!

Sorry to hear about that, but I flew with Dana a few weeks ago from Lagos to Abuja and I have no complaints, it was fine. Very good in fact.

i have been looking for this thread

DANA have done this to me four times, i repeat 4 times

1. my flight from Lagos to abuja was delayed for an hr with no excuse the return flight was delayed for 2 hours
2. my cousin tickets i bought to enugu, they got to the airport flight was cancelled for no reason- or same old reason - technical difficulties
3. my sis' was travelling to lagos from Ph and the same thing happened the morning of the flight we received the call that the flight have been cancelled
4. on her way back the only 9am flight back to ph on a saturday turned to 11am after buying the tickets

the only good sides about Dana is that at least they call u and refund your money unlike when Virgin Nigeria did it to me and did not refund my money from that day i vowed never to enter virgin any more

also Dana has got some very very sexy looking air hostesses that make u want to fly with them all the time to  admire the girls

What you described above is common to ALL the domestic carriers, about the bolded part,I don't think you paid anything out of the ordinary as I'm aware Dana is still new on the PH route hence they have a promotional fare of 9K(which I think you paid for their ticket),but maybe because of under-booking the flight was rescheduled, hence you had to go with the Ariks,Virgins,Aeros etc of this world whose tickets unfortunately go for 16k-20k,really no big deal,THEY ALL DO IT
