Universities In The UK

Hi Nairalanders,

I am a Dutch citizen in Holland (from Ghana) and at the moment thinking (or actually making preparations) to study in the uk for my masters in Marketing and/or management.

I would like to receive some information about good uni’s in UK. Do you guys know somebody studying in UK or are you doing your masters there yourself?

Can you please give me any info about the best-to-go and not so expensive uni’s preferably in London.

By the way the reason I want to study in uk is because here the masters programmes are 2 years and in uk its only a 1 year program.

Liquid London Met is actually a good univeristy not just academically but also price wise, you need to check them all out online, or contact UCAS. I went to Kingston myself. Since you want to do Marketing and management, London met city campus is in the heart of the finance district and you should look at their courses, my Boyfriend studied international Banking there. Like Naijacutie said check their website and many other to make your choice. Oh also try Westminster university

If anyone thinks that London Met is a good University by UK  standards,then that person is kidding himself.It is actually one of the worst unis in the UK.

Its only attractive from a cost perspective,but then it cost less partly because of the poor quality

It is also easy to gain admission into and there are a lot of Africans in the school.Other like Unis are london South Bank,East London,Greenwich,Westminster.Many of them,including London Met, are former Polytechnics that have been recently elevated to University status

For quality u should try colleges in the University of London,they are more expensive but the benefits are more rewarding over a lifetime.

PS:I forgot to add the University of Essex,not exactly in london but a suburb

@Danoe. You have to be a British citizen or have lived in britain for 3years/indefinite leave to remain inorder for you to apply for a grant.

Non- EU students are not given grant. Few schools provide scholarship for international students. However, You have to be really clever in order to get it and you have to be studying at the University.

Hey people I got an offer to study at MSc level at Uni Westminster's Harrow campus and have seriously been considering it but 4play has dampened my enthusiasm a bit saying its easy to get admitted and theres loads of africans. Can anyone please tell me exactly what is not so great about Uni Westminster? It didnt read/look bad to me but then, what do I know from here?

I got nothing against schooling with africans, it was the way you sounded like the school's admitting students indiscriminately.

It's all about Glasgow, Scotland. I heard that the city is a very rough place. Does anyone know how save it is for an African to live and study there? What of the ability to socialise? Is it multicultural city?

@4play, i think you need divine attention for you to assume that London Metropolitan University,which is the largest in London has a bad reputation.I believe as intellectuals,we are not suppose to open our mouth to say irrelevant things,more especially,when we cannot back what we say with relevant facts. Moreso,as a point of correction,London Met was formed as a result of the merger between University of North London and London Guildhall.Personally,l live in london,and l can rightly say that London Met is a nice University,has standards, and recently built the best Science laboratory in the UK

Ehm ,both North London University and London Guildhall Universities were both former Polytechnics providing vocational education.London Met was formed in 2002 out of a merger of these 2 former polytechnics

If you think London Met is a good University ,then kudos to you.

Apparently even the authors of the Times University Guide think lowly of the school,but hey they too probably need divine intervention

u say London Met is good partly because u say it is the largest uni in London,I guess that makes Allama Iqbal University in Pakistan a good University since it is one of the largest in the world

Only Nigerians in particular and Africans in general will think of London Met as a good university.

I will tell u one good thing about the Uni though,it is easy to get admission into it and i feel at home whenever I go there .U have to be hare brained for them to deny u admission
