http://www.youtube.com/v/M_ga0ml5iAI&feature=player_embeddedEarlier Lagos — For hours yesterday, safety was compromised at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, as power failure hit the fire department of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), located close to the presidential wing of the airport.
The power failure would have made impossible the activation of the fire alarm system at the airport had there been an emergency.
This is against rules of the International Civil Aviation Organisation which mandates airports to have adequate fire cover, especially those providing 24 hours services for flight operations.
FAAN's official reaction could not be sought, as its Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr. Onyekpere Nnaekpe, said he was in a meeting and could not confirm the development http://allafrica.com/stories/200910160987.html

Its not a new thing. I encountered the same experience when i was coming into the country last July at around 5.20am. The whole airport was DARK and my landing experience was something i dont even wish an enemy! Ask people who fly into the country early in the morning and they will tell you it is a normal experience.

Worse things happen everyday cos of electricity power failure. If the media hadn't got this news as at yesterday, how on earth would Nigerians know? unless the fire broke out like that of the military cantonment. What's the probability that The place has not been out of power for long and it was known to the media just yesterday. Naija needs to be banned from the world. Let them own their seperate planet.

Or are we the ones that would fix electricity?
