What's with Mother-Inlaws anyway? Trust me I've seen it one time too many; mother-inlaws hate their daughter-inlaws with a burning passion. Why cant they just love their daughter-inlaws? My heart truly goes out to the suffering daughter-inlaws out there. We should all pray for a change. But come o, why so much hate?

Now I think that's stereotyping. . .I have seen some really and I mean really devilish daughter in-laws with the best mother in-laws a woman can wish for. . .So I don't think every mother in law is like that. . .you just got to pray for a good mother in-law just as the same way you pray for a good husband.

most women will end up being mother-in-laws,so i dont see a problem here. just a vicious cycle

I think it's basically an issue of jealousy. Mother-in-laws are jealous of their daughter-in-laws.

@ poster, you had be better off by saying ''some mother-in-laws'' than this. Like someone had just said, it's some sort of cycle

nope, its just that the daughter-inlwas have refused to see the mother-in-lwas as thier mothers and not thier hubbys' mum. if you treat her like a mother am sur she will treat you like her child. unless the very devilish one's .

not all mother inlaws are wicked i believe its the daughter inlaws are to blaim in most cases, you have to show alot of respect to your motherinlaw, cos shes conceived and nursed that boy all his life, she cared for him, feed him, cloth him,she would definately feel reluctant in giving her over to you.she needs to trust you to be able to do all that for her son and that trust cannot be gained on your wedding day,its gotten with time.you have to be patient with till you earn that trust.believe me its not easy to give out a son just like time.if you are able to earn that trust i tell you will be havein a sweet romance with your motherinlaw.nothing good comes easy, besides theres no relationship without conflict

@22medinat, What happens when she wont give a rat's ass about you no matter what you do? What if the man continually assures his mom of his wife's qualifications, so to speak, and she just wont buy it? What then?

I am glad that you are a man. So you can start the end to it, when you marry, make sure you make your mother to understand that she has done all she needed to do and now that you are married, she needs to pass the torch of care and all that to you wife, and tell her to love her like she loves you and if she ever wanna love you, she needs to love your wife. I am sorry, i dont blame the mother, i blame the men cos: They refuse to stop sucking mama's breast They wanna be kool while everyone is around and be-little their wife in other's presence and that is rubbish. They wanna be a man by being tough and not with action and being gentle.
So when the mother in law see all these, they only finish the job started by the dumb husband

@fhemmmy, this stuff is not blown out of proportion. To some extent, i've waltzed with this monster for years on end now. Shit is really ugly, you gotta believe me. And yeah, it's a vicious cycle.

that is why i said somewhere above that i blame the man in the picture, cos it is the job of the man to protect his wife both from his families and hers as well.

Fhemmmy's so rite. but then, d issue also applies 2 d wife's mother(believe me, I've seen some who show dislike 4 their sons-in-law). Well, i thank God 4 my mother-in-law. she aint wicked(but she sure likes 2 b doted upon whenever she's around). And my mother, she treats my brother's wife like her own daughter. i'm so blessed!

that is the most pathetic one that i just cant understand, i have seen few mother in law that hates their son in law and i was like . . damn, take your daughter me, and leave the poor guy alone, and i think most of such cases are cos of money.

Don't you think that some mother-in-laws are wonderful? You should have qualified your subject by simply including "some" instead of generalizing all the mother in-laws. thanks, keep it up.

The problem of mother in laws and daughters in law can be summed up like this : it's a love triangle. Two women are in love with the same man. However, as Fhemmy pointed out, it's the man's job to fix the situation.

The majorty of them are wicked. They will take up for their sons even if he is wrong wrong wrong. If you and your husband get into a fight and make up. They {mother inlaw} will not forget and will hold it against you until you and him call it quits. Mother inlaw thinks that no lady is good enough for their son.

What I know is that the mother in laws with bad marriages tend to be the meanest ones. They let their husbands run all over them and consoled themselves with the idea that their children will take away the sadness. When it is time for their sons to enjoy their wives the mother then generates a liver and starts seeking attention where she never sought for it before.
