The olympios-

Sylvanus Epiphanio Olympio first president of togo
Olympio served as the Prime Minister of Togo from 1958 to 1961, during which time he held elections to consolidate his power. He then served as the first President of Togo between 1961 and 1963, obtaining seats in an election that barred Nicolas Grunitzky's party. Opposition leaders, such as Anani Santos, Antoine Meatchi and Nicolas Gruntitzky were either jailed in Mango prison or exiled to Ghana and Benin. Using "Ablode Sodja" militia the President squashed political dissident.[citation needed].
During his presidency, Olympio pursued a pro-Western foreign policy. At one point, he visited the United States and had a friendly meeting with President John F. Kennedy. Togo maintained friendly relations with most of its neighbors, but relations with neighboring Ghana and its leader Kwame Nkrumah were consistently poor. Within the country, each state supported the other's dissidents.

Gilchrist Olympio (born 26 December 1936) is a Togolese politician and the President of the Union of Forces for Change (UFC), the country's main opposition party. He is the son of former President Sylvanus Olympio, who was assassinated in a 1963 coup.

Olympio was born in Lomé and he studied mathematics and philosophy in the United States, and in the United Kingdom at the London School of Economics and Oxford University, where he received a doctorate[1][2] in economics. He worked at the United Nations in fiscal and financial studies from 1963 to 1964 and then as an economist for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 1964 to 1970 and later returned to Africa to pursue business. Entering the Togolese political opposition, he was sentenced to death twice in absentia by the regime of Gnassingbé Eyadéma.

Taio Cruz (pronounced Tie-oh Cruise)[2], was born 23 April, 1985. He is a Brit Award Winning & MOBO-nominated English singer-songwriter and music producer.

In 2008 he released his top 10 debut album Departure which he arranged and produced himself. In October 2009 he released his follow up album Rokstarr which includes hit single "Take Me Back" with Tinchy Stryder which peaked at number three and his number one single "Break Your Heart".

Taio Cruz was born on 23 April 1985 to a Nigerian father and a Brazilian mother, and raised in London, England.[citation needed] His love for music was evident from his school days and particularly college days, where he began taking recordings more seriously. Cruz is the founder and C.E.O. of Rokstarr Music London, which in 2006 released his debut single "I Just Wanna Know". Also in 2006, he signed a joint-venture partnership deal with UMusic Companies, Republic Records and Island Records. In the UK, Cruz has worked with Omar, Nitin Sawhney, Wookie, and Will Young. The song "Your Game", co-written by Cruz with Will Young and Blair MacKichan, went multi-platinum and won Best British Single at the Brit Awards

Helen Folasade Adu, OBE, (born 16 January 1959), better known as Sade (pronounced /ʃɑːˈdeɪ/ shah-DAY), is an English-Nigerian singer-songwriter, composer, and record producer. She first achieved success in the 1980s as the frontwoman and lead vocalist of the popular Brit and Grammy Award winning English group Sade.

Sade was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Her name, Folasade, means wealth confers your crown. Her parents, Bisi Adu, a Nigerian lecturer in economics of Yoruba background, and Anne Hayes, an English nurse, met in London and moved to Nigeria. Later, when the marriage ran into difficulties, Anne Hayes returned to Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, England, taking four-month-old Sade and her older brother Banji to live with her parents. Living in Colchester, Essex, Sade read a good deal, developed an interest in fashion, acquired a taste for dancing and listened to soul artists like Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hathaway, and Marvin Gaye.

Funmilayo Kuti

born Francis Abigail Olufunmilayo Thomas to Daniel Olumeyuwa Thomas and Lucretia Phyllis Omoyeni Adeosolu. She was a teacher, political campaigner, and women's rights activist. Ransome-Kuti's political activism led to her being described as the doyen of female rights in Nigeria and was regarded as “The Mother of Africa.” Early on she was a very powerful force advocating for women's right to vote. She was described in 1947, by the West African Pilot as the “Lioness of Lisabi” for her leadership of Egba women on a campaign against arbitrary taxation of women. That struggle led to the abdication of the Egba King Oba Ademola II in 1949.
