john brown was an american who lived in the early 19th century. during his time there was a hot debate in the USA about slavery. this man, an ordinary guy who took about 18 men, 3 of whom were his own sons, and went to Kansas to fight the army  b/c of his belief that slavery was bad and that it should be abolished in kansas. Of course he was defeated and his sons killed and he was arrested and tried and hanged. before his hanging he told americans that this issue of slavery will take blood to settle. a few years later the american civil war erupted. it was a war that till today is the bloodiest in american history-the US lost more blood in the civil war than in all other wars combined. and what was the war about?  summary-the south wanted to keep slavery, the north wanted to stop slavery.

and guess what? john brown was white. there are millions like him who have done more to end racism than you. what have you done to end racism?
