Did it stop the book from selling and well known? It is the same attitude of trying to sweep everything under the carpet one of the reasons naija is the way it is now.
We must not sweep the facts as they happened under the carpet, for this reason, they must try to be balanced in their presentation of such facts. How many many Nigerians have read the book? The film, if it is made, will be seen by millions of Nigerians, and I implore Hollywood not to play with the lives of Nigerians by trying to demonize one ethnic group. i hope the movie will force a conversation though, so I am looking forward it.

For this movie to be a success, the true story of Biafra must be told and shown in its best graphic way as possible. It must show how the ibos were throughly brutalized, beaten, crushed, destroyed and almost exterminated. That is the real Biafra stroy. No propaganda to try and reverse the role that Biafra beat the Nigerian Army. The Nigerian Army must be shown to be in charge shelling the Hell out of the ibos 24/7. Also those hungry looking kwashokior looking biafra children we see on BBC every now and then must be intergrated into the movie. It must show the pogrom at its very best and the highlight of the movie should be when the Biafra people finally surrendered to the Mighty Nigerian Army and General Obasanjo decided to forgive their stupidity by accepting their shameful surrender to the Nigerian Army. Now i would pay top dollar to watch that movie over and over again because it would be a classic u must be a very stupid senseless fool to eexpress your view this way

My questions
1) Is it going to be a product of Hollywood or Nollywood? 2) is it going to be a true story or fixtion with just the basic part of the biafran war? 3) Would it be filmed in Nigeria or not? 4) Would all the casting crew be Nigerian

to answer number 1, it should be Nollywood of course. if we wanna start getting some REAL international recognition on our movie industry we should produce GREAT movies from our own pockets and from our own land. they should make it kinda like "Saving Private Ryan" i love that movie!! its so real and you feel everything and see everything as if you were there. well thats where money might be a problem. to answer the rest of your questions, it should be a YES YES YES!!

The reason why i asked Question 1, I know they do Premier Nollywood movies down here in England, which is a bonus, I dont know about America, Nigeria would be home videos which would be the downside. in making a huge return on the movie, Question 2 , to tell the story as it is, this would attract so many red tapes and would it stir up any hatred amoung the tribes in Nigeria Question 3 , To tell the story as it it, it has to be filmed somewhere else Question 4 , The movie budget would determine how far, because of the actors and actress would have to help promote the movie world wide

I remember seeing 2 white people with a Nigeria on SBTV talking about the making of this film and the story has been in every newspaper I see. I think this is serious and may be very good for our film industry. I understand the writer of the film is A Nigerian film maker too, based in America. Is that right? And how can one get in touch and make investment. I have a feeeling this will be another Last King of Scotland of Rwanda Hotel and will make tens of millions of dollers the way the intend to distribute it on cinema worldwide.

Worth looking forward to. Jim Iyke would fit the role of Ojukwu just fine although Emeka Ike might just as well. Arinze would play Obasanjo pretty well interchangeably with kanayo kanayo. It would be good to elevate our good actors to a level beyond campus love stories and general debauchery which have become the trite template of Nollywood.
the Biafran story is a Nigerian story, indeed an African story and certainly not a singularly Igbo story. Which is why all should be happy at the prospect.

i still think they should model the movie after "Saving Private Ryan" that movie was great and filled with so much detail! everything was graphic and real and helped you to get the real idea of WWII it was cool. this movie should be like that.

Need awesome corporate backing to do that. besides Saving Private Ryan had strong moral point to it which made it more captivating. The Biafran movie may as well have a perspective that will equally endear it to the audience. A lot depends on the point of view of the producer/director and the hope is that (h)he strikes the right tone and message. Unless i forget there has been a Hollywood film on Biafra starring Bruce Willis among others. What was the name again?

Am delighted already wt dis type of breakthrough dat wl b coming into nollywood,bt d producer and directors should work hard to make it classical. Ths type of movie shuld take some years to conclude and nt few months as in case of our usual nollywood films dat does'nt last up to a month for d production to b completed.

not even up to one month. even 2 weeks!! but thats how the industry is and how it started off as. people got more competitive and they see there is money to be made. with all the piracy you dont know how much your movie might bring in. thats why producers/directors spend as little as possible. Don't think they'll have enough money to do that.
i hope they will! that movie was great. i loved it! with great actors too like Tom Hanks.

I just got more info abt the film on google and other sites. It will take 3 months to film and 1 month to edit. It also says that the casting and rehearsals in 9ja and UK will take a a whole month. From what i see, it will take about 6 months to make the film from start to finish. Also the fil of Bruce Will is Tears of the sun. I saw it but it does not tell the real story of our war. It talks more about evaquating a french doctor from the south east of Nigeria as the war breaks out. This film they are making according to reports, tells the cause of the war, the way it was fought and the repacautions and lessons learnt. The name of the write is Sunny Ache but does anyone knows what part of NIgeria he's from? His name does not sound Ibo to me. Umaru.

How do you mean silly SEFAGO? you havent even seen producers at work yet. Have you met them or seen what they have done yet? This is the first international coproduction by experienced Hollywood crew. I have sat here all evening researching the makers. At least take a look at the white guy's cv and the films he's been in and produced. I mean George Calil.

That's the reason I fear this movie might not do well in the box office. I hope i'm wrong sha. that movie was great. i loved it! with great actors too like Tom Hanks.
That's the difference. While hollywood had the likes the Hanks,Damon & Vin Diesel to call upon, nollywood has who exactly?
