Analysis on business bringing returns of N5000 per cow
« on: November 01, 2009, 12:55 PM »

Hi,
I stumbled on this little secret recently and the past 1 year has been the very wonderful. I never knew I can make so much from a business that has been left to ne'er do well. If only people know how much this people make daily, they will re-classify them. Below is a typical butchers daily records and profit profile.

CAPITAL: 150,000

EXPENDITURE:

COST OF A 200 Kg COW – 105,000
LADA (ROYALTY) - 2000
LEVIES – 2500
TRANSPORTATION FROM THE SLAB TO THE LOADING BAY – 1000
LABOR - 3000
MISCELLANEOUS – 2000
TOTAL: 115,500

SALES:

HEAD – 7000
SKIN – 5000
INNARDS – 13000
EJA (REMNANTS) – 2500
GIZARD – 300
TAIL – 2000
PENIS (FOR MALE) – 350
MUSCLE – 500
BONES – 6000
BEEF @ 600 PER Kg, ASSUMING BEEF IS 140 Kg – 84000
TOTAL: 120,650

PROFIT: 5150
Not bad at all for a business that is concluded within 3 hrs for one cow. However, this is a conservative estimate and profit can increase tremendously depending on the factors I am about discussing. However, even if a butcher continue with a cow for a month and manage to maintain this profit margin, he would have netted 128,750 Naira pure profits assuming he worked 25 days that month. A 112.4% profit, within a month and don’t forget this is only on a cow per day. Imagine a butcher that slaughters 10 per day. Are you still thinking these mallams are ne’er do wells?
Come to think of it, I can achieve this without spending a dime. This is after a year of building trust with the cattle sellers.

How about information marketing business? Have you think in that direction?
Require little or capital to get started. While you keep your money for other
pressing need.
