What To Know Before You Buy A Generator

YOU should know certain things before you can choose a suitable Gen-set for your home or office use.

Let me start by telling you some of the things you should put into consideration before you  buy that Gen-set. It is worth the effort!

1.      WHERE TO INSTALL: You should consider first a position where to put the Gen set before it would be purchased.
We all know that  Gen  Set emits smoke {carbon-monoxide} which is very harmful to the body and could eventually lead to death.

Therefore your Gen set should be positioned where you can have the exhaust far from your main building {not near the window}. The exhaust line should be constructed in such a way that it face upward, you can cover it with exhaust flap to prevent rain water from dropping in. You will by doing this save yourself and your neighbour from this harmful smoke.

2.      HOW TO INSTALL:  if you have heavy appliances, like heater, air conditioner, gas cooker e.t.c. you should consider three phase power     Generator.
Gen-set produce either single or three phase power. As a matter of fact you         should    use  the type of power your panel provides if you have already bought one, but if not you will need three phase power especially for heavy home or office appliances.

3.      LOAD BALANCING:  Let your electrician share the load equally on each phase before you start to use the Generator. The load on each panel must be equal or almost equal. Uneven load sharing is detrimental to the electrical alternator. Most gen set panel has a panel and you can see for yourself if the load are equally shared or not.

l shall continue to share vital information with you.
