The Federal Government is set to revoke virtually all lands allocated by the former FCT Minister, Malam Nasir el-Rufa'I, NT can authoritatively reveal. Informed sources in the FCT Ministry and the Presidency told NT in Abuja that the action followed growing public outcry against the last minute allocation of plots at the twilight of ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo's regime in May 2007, by el-Rufa'i. It would be recalled that the erstwhile FCT captain had revoked and/or allocated hundreds of parcels of choice lands in Abuja to himself, wife, children, friends and close associates about the time he was expected to hand over the FCTship to his successor, Dr Aliyu Modibbo Umar. el-Rufa'i's indignity generated public ire and unprecedented condemnation that prompted the National Assembly to probe the land revocations and re-allocations effected by that administration. Similarly, President Umaru Yar'Adua was also said to have been inundated with series of complaints and petitions that almost embarrassed him and decided to inquire into the matter with a view to resolving it amicably. NT gathered that the President's panel of inquiry thoroughly investigated the issue and recommended for outright revocation or invalidation of the irregular land allocations. The committee also suggested that the revoked pieces of land should be returned to their original allottees with proven ownership or titled deeds cleared by the AGIS. This followed el-Rufa'i's refusal to appear before any panel of inquiry to defend himself of the alleged misdeeds. Observers are, however, worried over the faith of the original land beneficiaries who would most likely lose out of the new policy and those latter allottees who might had developed or improved on their lands or properties. But the situation will enable the Federal Government to ascertain the authentic owners of the affected lands to come forward and claim them. http://www.targetnewsonline.com/component/content/article/35-all-news/138-fg-revokes-lands-allocated-by-el-rufai-.html

Here is another person that was highly praised in Nigeria for all that he did. A few reserved their comments because we all know that, no Nigerian leader will ever leave power without soiling his name. It is the same man, that was given awards all over the world, and was later discovered that all the so-called land revocation and re-allocation was in his own favour. It was still thesame El-Rufai, that allocated land to a 3 year old baby. Nobody said anything.
What baffles me here is that, NEXT Newspaper and even Sahara-reporter will never report all these, or even investigate, because, it is thesame corrupt money he and Ribadu made, is what they used to fund directly or indirectly, these media houses. The facts are there.
I thought journalism was supposed to be free reporting without fear or favour. Report all corrupt leaders, and give them equal coverage.
That is how it should be. I am very sure that the day NEXT Newspapers and SAHARA-REPORTER stops reporting Ibori, they will fold up, because there will be nothing to report again. As for Ibori, time will tell. Today is Bode George.

They will not show their ugly faces. Let El-Rufai come and tell us how he spent N32billion which Nuhu Ribadu was privy to, but refused to act, until Waziri later dug up the matter. Let him tell us why a 3 year old baby will own a land in a juicy part of Abuja, as against the law excluding a minor from such. Let him tell us, the number of land he and his relatives had before he assummed power and also declare the number they now have. We can wait for his so-called December date, please.

I think all past leaders and current one must be probed, and look into how to make sure they live within their means. El Rufai and some of the current ones has no clue as to what to do and what to offer the people of their states, they are just doing the try and error nonsense at the expense of the people.

There is no point, these lands are gone for good. Govt should not start what they cannot finish, except they want to pay compensation to those who cannot get their lands back. Shekinah!.

No sinner will go unpunished, so says the word of GOD. If the El-Rufai's of this world, escape judgement here, then that of GOD will surely be heavier than expected.
