You think so?  I can be chill.  I am chill for the most part.  I'm just extra picky in situations where I feel that someone else is being inconsiderate towards something.
Take for example you accused me of being sensitive.  How can I be insensitive if a remark made towards me sounds condescending or rude?

I hope the moderator is not moderating advice given by myself, naijaking or kathyekiti. If this happens you will get the sort of rubbish going on between oyinda and C2H5OH. A lot of nairalanders have benefited from our advice over the last couple of years

Nairaland has a new "spam bot" that automatically delete people's messages. what's ironic is that serious/ longer posts are more susceptible to it than one line, chat posts.
be careful because this spam bot will ban you after you post a few "spam" messages.

Hi doc,
Some months back,i had malaria and typhoid which i went to d hospital and was given Ciproflox and Artermether.After completion,there was no improvement.i went back and was given Augmentin and Quinine.No improvement.I was then given Camosunate(Artemesunate/Amodiaquine) and peflucine /Doxycycline.No parasite was seen when i did a stool culture but the malaria parasite persisted as 2++(P.faciparum).I took Mefloquine,Coartem(Artemesunate/Lumefanthrine) still to no avail.What other options do i have cos i still feel feverish especially at night.Thanks a million.Lest i forget,i did full blood count and HIV cos i was curious but the HIV was negative and as for the pathology lab result,the parameters was normal.CHEERS

Hi doctor(s) in the house i do not know if any of you would be in the best position to help me on this; perhaps if u are,i just want you to advise me on what i could do to combat hair loss.I'm a guy of 24 years old and i began to observe i was losing hair when i was much younger (2000).The hair loss was so serious that it occured thru out my body! I lost hair on my lashes,eye brow,HEAD(which consequently made me bald right now) and every other part of my skin.Now i experienced a slight regrowth at some time in 2007 which restored those on my lashes and other parts except my SCALP. I sought medical advise and i was told its possibly ringworm of the scalp (Tinea capitis) i used d prescribed drugs but all to no avail.Please help i'm devastated, Thanks

If you've taken all these malaria medications and you still have fever, maybe you don't have malaria despite whatever the lab says. Malaria is not the only condition that could cause fever you know.

pls i need medical advice. i have had this headache since may. it all started in may, i was actually take a slimming drug a friend bought for me from the US, and after a week i started having this headache and chest pain so i stopped the drug and when i read the leaflet found that those were some of its side effects including dizziness which i was experiencing too. When i stopped taking the drugs it stopped but now on a monthly basis i have this terrible headache once to thrice in a month, is so bad that i won't be able to do anything till the pain goes down and thats like about 5hrs after esp after i throw up. i'm also on iucd birth control, i don't know if it has something to do with it cos the last time i went to see my doc he asked if the iucd was giving me headaches but i said no cos i was not xperiencing any then, pls i need your advice on what to do cos the headache can be so severe.

@davinchi
I'm sorry for the long delay and this computer deleting thing. Your body temperature is normal. The lab result you showed indicates 2 types of titres for the salmonella antigen; O for the body, and H for the flagella. This titre is totally useless if taken only once, because Nigerians live in salmonella endemic environment. What I mean is that if you randomnly picked 100 adults off the street in Nigeria, 90-95 will test positive for salmonella, even when they are healthy. So, the best approach is to show an increase in titre over time. For example, if the titre suddenly jumps from 1:80 to 1: 320 or higher, then a good clinician can accurately say that the patient has active salmonella infection necessitating treatment. The titre is a reflection of how strongly the antigens(or the substances from the salmonella bacteria) react with matching antibody. The higher the titre, the more likely there is likely to be a positive antigen. Well, so much for medical microbiology; unless your doctor tested another blood sample from you after 2-weeks from the first one, the result is no good.
One more thing, the chemicals to test salmonella typhi and others are very common and cheap in many medical labs in Nigeria, so don't be surprised everyone gets tested-------- and with a result.

Your history will be much better, and helpful to you if you give the name of the slimming drug you're taking. Many of these drugs have been banned in the US. Your history should also contain information about the possibility of pregnancy. Believe it or not, there is nothing to hide in medicine----- real orthodox medicine, I mean.

Let's try this again.
Hair loss could be caused by many factors such as genetics---father, brothers, uncles have same problem; nutritional deprivation of essential vitamins and elements; and infection. Given that some part of your hair is re-growing after some treatment makes me think that your loss might be infection-related. If you have been diagnosed with tinea capitis(ring worm of the head)-- then, you have a diagnosis, and all you need to do is find applicable therapy.
So, what medicine were you prescribed, what dose, what route, and for how long did you take it?

Thank you sir. Now i can start, i hope you will find time to read my story.
About 7yrs back when i was preparing for my waec examination, i discovered that i was finding it difficult to read for a longer hours (say 4  hours). Initially, i thought it was the smoke emitting from the lamp that i was using then, so i stopped using it. Even after that, the problem refuse to stop, instead it worsen. It got to a stage that, after reading for the restricted number of hours during the night, i find it very difficult to see the text in a book the following morning. The problem increase with the number of time i spend in reading, the more i try to read, the lesser i can.

After my waec exam, i left reading for some time and i didn't notice the problem much. 4yrs back while i was preparing for my jamb, the problem resurfaced just as it was then, seeing that it will disturb my preparation for my exam, i went to an optician who recommended a lens for me. I began to use that lens whenever i'm ready to start reading, but i soon discover that the lens only keep me more longer, but doesn't stop the problem. I tried to explain to the optician, but it seems he doesn't believe or understand what i was saying, so i felt he was a quack. So i decided to try the teaching hospital in my town. After i went through some test and all that, i was again recommended to use a 1.50 power distance lens as against the 1.25 i was using before. Yet the problem was still there, although i could stay a little more longer now with the 1.50, but it doesn't allow me achieve my reading target which makes me feel so bad.
I also tried explaining to the other optician but he doesn't believe me, telling me it is not possible and end up not been able to proffer any further solution. I'm tired of this situation, not knowing the next step to take, after spending so much without any substantial results. It's really terrible!. So, i have decided to ask nairaland doctors, PLEASE HELP ME!

Thanks.

@binaflexia
You seem to have a problem adjusting the focus of your eye-lens from the near-sighted reading aperture to the far sighted aperture you need to navigate your everyday environment. This problem could be related to the 6 small muscles that move and rotate the eye, lenses, and the lid as needed. These mucles and their nerves could be dysfunctional or the nervous pathway could be dysfunctional. If you have seen an optometrist a couple of times and without much result, I would suggest that you go see an ophthamologist. Don't give up.

Thanks for the prompt reply. When i went to the teaching hospital in my town, i was directed to an ophthamologist center. I think they were the one that recommended the second lens. The surprising part of it is that none of them has even prescribe a drug for me. I hope you can help.

The easiest thing is to prescribe a drug that can constrict or dilate your pupils, but that's not recommended without a clinical exam. I would suggest going back over and over untill you see the right person in that department of ophthalmology. Just tell them you still don't fell better---- many doctors would be obliged to investigate or even research your case.
Or try another hospital, if you can afford it.
