Hello Naijaking1, happy new year to you and everyone on this thread.
My condition is still the same but I beleive I'll lose more weight soon.
The problem now is that I usually have sharp pain in my heart that extends to the back.
It first happened some years ago and the doctor I complained to recommended I check the blood pressure of my eyes(forgotten the medical name), I did and there was nothing wrong with my eyes, later it went away and recently it's back again and even lasted for up to two weeks.
What can be wrong this time?

Hello!
I am concerned about your sharp pain in the heart. I would usually recommend that my patients proceed to the emergency room with such a complaint, but in your situation, I would recommend going to see your doctor again ASAP. You may need a lot of tests including chest x-ray, ekg, labs- especially cardiac enzymes.

Sorry for your loss
Barring any other medical complications, I don't see any contraindication to making the journey to Imo state. Now, depending on your mode of transportation: private car/lux. buses/trucks, etc. you need to prepare for the baby and his mother very well. Enough fluid for hydration, food, and all applicable medications they may be currently taking should be packed. Be sure your baby has had all necessary vaccinations, and of course help protect them from dust/mosquitoe/food-water contamination. Safe trip.

Iam a doctor who knows about wounds and wound healing, your sister in-law in WRONG. You could go ask the doctor who performed the CS.

@Chiefs
Check to make sure that there're no other social reason your in-law doesn't want her sister to travel to your father's funeral, it's definitely not from a medical point of view.

It's good the pain is gone, but it might come back, and then even worse. So my professional medical advice is to see a doctor and tell him that you had chest pain last week. There're many causes of chest pain, some more serious than others. Some are preventable, while the serious effect of others maybe reduced if found early. The benefit of knowing the source of chest pain in someone like you is very huge.

Hi docs,

pls I need your advise.

Sometimes ago( like 4 yrs back), I had a feeling dt was painful on my chest (at d upper region of my breast) and which I compalined to a doctor and another pharmacist differently. They both examined me and said nothing was wrong. The doctor gave me one pain reliever and advised me to stop sleeping face - down( i.e sleeping on my chest).

The pain went away but recently  (probably 1 month ago). I started feeling the pains again (though I still sleep face down after the pain had gone) and I examined my self but couldn't find anything. An elderly woman also checked me and said there's nothing on my breast and that I should stop putting on bras that has all this tiny metals in them.

I stopped as she said and I felt relieved for like one week. Since the beginning of this week, I've started having this same feeling again. I do examine myself everyday and nothing has been found different.

Pls what can I do?

@Life4all
Your history is very sketchy, but I'm able to make out that you're a female. If you need good advice on this forum, please remember that the more you tell us about yourself; ie age, weight, height, occupation, medical/surgical history, family history, etc, the better I can advice you as a medical doctor.
Chest pain is a potentially serious condition, and I hope you can give more history, or better still go see a competent medical doctor in our area. So far, I'm not sure you have seen anybody capable of managing chest pain in a standard medical manner.

@ naijaking,

Thanks for the reply.

I'm a female like you said, 24 yrs , 55kg , 4.5ft and a student in one of the Nigerian Universities. No family history of any sickness and I've never had any medical / surgery history. The only time I was  hospitalised was like 5 years ago when I had typhoid fever.

I hope I've been able to answer the question.

Waiting for your reply. Thanks

Hi Doctors in the house,

I had  excision in my left breast in 2003 and right one in 2006. Right now I am pregnant in my 3rd trimester and I suddenly detected pain in both breasts few days ago. Feeling them I noticed a hard portion  in the right one and nothing significant in the left.  I intend to complain to my doctor on my next clinic this weekend but I really want to know if it is safe for me to have an excision while pregnant.

Also, could the pain be related to hormonal changes as a result of pregnancy? Am a little bit scared of another surgery on that part of my body (the breasts are quite small as they are and all these small-small cuts keep reducing them Grin).  Besides, the last one left an ugly scar that I've not been able to get rid off.  What can I do pls?

Thank God for you doctors in the house.

My question: 2 days ago while helping to set up for service in church, my feet started cramping. When I took off my shoes, my big toe was pointing in one direction while the other four were pointing in the opposite direction and this caused indescribable pain. I tried massaging them but it didn't really help. Anyhow, someone said I should put both feet under cold water and I went and did that. The cramping did stop but I still feel pains in both feet. I've never experienced cramping in my feet as such, on my legs, yes, sometimes I've woken up in the night with muscular pain as if the muscles are pulling; but this feet cramping is really new to me. What could be the cause? I was not wearing high heels on that day, though I'd been in the shoes the whole day. Slightly bulky one inch heel.

PS: I don't usually wear heels that much because of our rough roads, mostly on sundays or when I'm going out in a car.

Thanks for your time.

At 24 y/o, the likely causes of chest pain include 1. Chest abnormalities- rib fracture, musckuloskeletal injuries, trauma, anatomical abnormalities, etc. 2. Cardiac- abnormal cardiac rythms, holes, valvular diseases, fluid around the heart, etc 3. Gastrointestinal- ulcer, hiatal hernia, esophageal diseases. 4- Lung- pneumonia, pneumothorax, infections, abnormal pulmonary/cardiac function. 5. Medical issues- rheumatological, oncological, etc
Solution:Chest X-ray, Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen(with food), a good physical exam by a competent M.D

You have done a complete blood count. Pack cell volume or hematocrit is the % of red blood cells in a unit volume of blood. Hb- is the amount of hemoglobin in the blood. White blood cell is the number of wbc in the blood, and neutrophiles are the number of wbc that  are neutrophiles. Platelets are the lymphocytes and they help with blood clotting, esinophiles help with allergicic reactions.
one plus for malaria parasite indicates that there are some malaria organisms in your body, then again, everybody in naija has malaria. I wouldn't worry about the m.p if you are not having symptoms.

If your big toe was pointing in a direction different from the others, and this happened all of a sudden, I would immediately diagnose that you have dislocated that toe. Dislocation could be from a new(bad) shoe, trauma, arthritis, etc. Reduction of the dislocated joint with pain control should be the first therapy, then splinting, rest, ice and rest will follow. In my practice, I will refer you to a podiatrist or an orthopod. Healing well is important, because of the tendency to re-occur, progress to disabling arthritis, or even lose of use.

Pain and tenderness of the breast are usual in 3rd trimester pregnancy. You definitely don't need any surgery on your breast at this time. After pregancy, some of the hormonal changes of the breast tissue will normalise, then and only then can you say for sure that there are changes worthy of surgery on your breast.
Scars also tend to be exergerated, your face will also develope a type of dark 'mask', etc. Late trimester pregnancy is not a time to go for fashion parade. Luckily, these changes tend to normalize after pregnancy.

On a more serious note, you did right by going to have a physical exam. Almost everything reverts to normal after pregnancy.

Doctor Help!
Doctor any time I have may penis erected for more than 5minutes maybe because I am watching porn film or masturbating or just fantasizing, I always have pains around my private parts especially my Balls. The pains sometimes take me back to my bed till I take a pain relief medicine before I can stand up.

secondly any time I take some drugs especially anti malaria drugs I always have my penis inching me so badly, to the extend that it will develop in an injury, leading to the piling off of the surface of my penis coming up of a new one. This can keep at home for more than two week.

I have seen doctors and most of the test they have recommended have shown no infection. I am confuse. Please I need you to help me.

I will so much appreciate your prompt response to a situation that is cousing me and my wife some sleepless night.

My wife experiences severe stomach ache at midnight after going to urinate. It is her first pregnancy; 6 weeks to be precise. We went to a doctor last week who confirmed this after some blood and urine tests. The doctor said the pain is normal and adviced us to keep away from drugs. He prescribed pregnacare which we bought and instructed us to use paracetamol when the pain gets so severe.
The problem now is that we are always having sleepless night because the pain increases each time my wife wakes up at midnight to urinate. I will appreciate any advice from someone who can assist us with remedies to this nightmare. Thanks.

It sounds like your wife has urinary tract infection, which is not uncommon in early pregnancy. You should follow up with the urine result. In my practice, I would refer your wife to an OB/Gyne-- like Kathyekiti on the Ob/Gyne section, and I would prescribe empiric antibiotic like bactrim(if your wife is not allergic to sulfur) before the urine result comes back.
