Dr Kathy and Naijaking, October will probably be my next visit to your beautiful city. Let you know the dates. Probably stay a week. When confirmed, it would be my pleasure to take you great people out for dinner. We could put all the wrongs in the world to right over dinner Smiley
Great news Grin

Hello psalty. I am sorry to hear about your disorder, trichotillomania. I am unsure trying to find the solution to your problem on line is the right way about it. My suggestion is to have a chat with your family doctor (general practitioner in uk) and get them to refer you to appropriate expert. It might require combination of medication and psychotherapy. I will leave that to the capable hands of your family doctor

Can someone with whitish discharge also follow the prescription given above, can she also use the drug (diflucan), as several anti-biotic had been administered before. I never knew candidas can be a symptom of HIV or other deadly disease. Is someone discharging (heavy/light) having candidiasis. Plsssssssssssssss I want to know more about the infection (vaginal candidiasis)

Thanks so much for your help.

shadegirl, have I missed a previous posting. Also can't seem to follow what your question is or information you are after. I am going to assume  you want to know about candida infection being a complication of HIV or other diseases where the patient is immunocompromised.

Swollen hair follicle/ sebaceous cysts in pregnancy??

Hi Doc,

Hope you are well and thanks for all your help so far.
This is my first post in your forum, i have posted a few messages on  Dr Katy's forum,
I think this issue may be for you,

I have 2 vaginal bumps. One of them is just below the bikini line on the left close to my pelvic bone…. Which has got a slightly swollen gland whilst the other is further below on the right.
I saw my doc yesterday who said it is a hair follicle infection and prescribed fucidin cream to apply 3times daily. As I am 16 weeks pregnant, and the bump which is of concern to me is close to my uterous,  I was a bit sceptical, as I wasn’t sure I needed the anti biotic. ( the other bump is not painful and am not worried about it)
I saw the doc in the morning, not convinced, I went to see my gynae consultant who didn’t know what it was and then refered me to a sex health clinic.
At the clinic, the doc said it was a skin reaction to my hair…which led to the blockage of hair follicle. At this point, the bump was ripe and it burst and she took a swab for it to be examined. The result should be out in 5 days, but if it is infected already, I want to start treatment.
But having read other posts I am worried it might be infected now since It burst also, the gland in my pelvic bone region was a bit sore before the burst and it still is afterwards.  She prescribed aqueous cream for me to wash with.
Do you think I should go ahead to use the fucidin cream… am not sure if it is safe in pregnancy, also if I don’t use the cream will it cause any infection to the baby?

Thanks.

Please i will so much appreciate you prescribe something that will work for me.

but it is very small and i do not last more than 45 seconds on a lady.
Please help me out i need help before i do something i dont even know.
I have tried to send you a message privately but did not see your email on your profiles.

@meonyou22
Penile size has little correlation with ability to impregnate a woman, but I do understand the current craze about penis enlargment. I am not aware that any particular product has been certified by the FDA, so I definitely cannot presecribe one at this time.
Since you have no problems with erection, I'm not even sure you have erectile dysfunction, so recommending viagra or cialis type of medications maybe mute,
Penile size is a function of body habitus, genetics, embryolgy, and hormones. Everybody will not have porn star-sized penis, so comparing yours to that of a 7 year old may not even be appropriate. If it does not run in your family, if you're not obese, and if you're not on some sort of steroid for body building, then I recommend going to see your physician, because there're other things in addition to your penile size he would check that may or may not raise a red flag for a genetic abnormality.
Lasting only 45 seconds may simply be that you don't have enough experience, but your doctor will make that conclusion after a physical exam.

You need a pulmonologist to manage your brother's condition. Sometimes, the blog doesn't represent the reality on the ground in Nigeria.

Epileptic attack or seizure disorder is a very common disease of the central nervous system. History of the illness is very important, that is; how long has the patient been having the symptoms, was he born with seizure, did the seizure start with fever, was trauma involved, is there family history of seizure, and is there a metabolic disorder causing the symptoms? Sometimes seizure maybe a sign of brain tumor. A good history is more than half of the battle in treating seizures.

There is no need to panick when you run into someone in status epilepticus(ie actively having seizure) First help protect the airways, make sure they're breathing well, then make sure they're not hurting themselves---breaking their arms or legs, or even bitting their tongues(don't put your hand in their mouth, you could put a blunt object if they're bitting the tongue, otherwise leave them alone).

Active seizures are broken with benzodiazophine class of medications, iv/im. For long term maintainance, dilantin, phenobarbital, and other medications have been used.
The most important aspect of helping someone with seizure is to make sure they're seen by a qualified doctor, and that they take their daily medications.

any answers doc?

The flagyl/clarithromycin/lansoprazole/bismuth combination works well for my patients---- about 96% success rate if taken for 14 days.
You should also avoid foods, medications, and other things that could cause relapse of gastritis and ulcer

I would rather not write prescriptions under these circumstances, but you can follow-up with your MD.
Alcohol, tobacco are known to irritate the mucosal layer of the stomach. Pepper and caffein have questionable effects. Obesity and subsequent dysfunction of the lower esophageal sphincter/regurgitation/hiatal hernia are other conditions that could lead to gastritis, acid reflux, and ulcer.

Carine4, this is like an osce exam!! Medical joke Smiley.
Only thing that shows up there is anaemia. Low haemoglobin. Most of this should have normal range for you to know what is abnormal and what is normal.
Not sure what the units for your alk phos is. I am used to IU/litre. Maybe one of the other docs is familiar with that unit.
Also blood results are interpreted for different people and different ages. Hope that helps a bit.

Just follow the same rule of the thumb: go to an experienced hand surgeon who has done many cases like your own. Also be prepare for some therapy after the surgery. Good luck.
