How To Develop Your Writing Skills
« on: November 04, 2009, 03:59 PM »

Hello there, this just a piece of information for you all, do you know that anybody can write, but very few people try to develop that talent,

Who says you can't write, it just takes being attentive and ready to gather informations around you, you can write on anything, just take time sit down and do some thinking, most of us don't think and if we do, our thoughts most times are very shallow to connect with the inner most imaginations and ideas inside our souls,

I thought i couldn't write to until one day i just sat down and did some thorough thinking, and like joke ideas just started to flow, at first it wasn't perfect and convincing enough but when i  persisted it just turned out nice and beautiful,

Another thing i discovered is most of us fear rejection and  criticism, these are the only ways you can test the quality and efficacy of your God given talent, at first you might get very negative response but that shouldn't deter you, just go ahead write something now, maybe its an idea the whols world has been waiting for, you never know, so please to keep this generation waiting start putting those ideas that keeps hitting you down in writing before they all blow away with time,

Of course, everybody can write, but to write and create - not the same.

Writing is not as difficult as people believe. In-fact, there is at-least one book [on any subject]in each person created by God.  You can never downplay where your well written book can take you. One good and simple tip i will give right here is: If You Really Want To Write, Choose What You Want To Achieve With Your Book And Have Pictures Of The Rewards/Awards In Your Head, Then Write As If You Are Talking With Your Friend.

I have a writing guide I am currently given to Nigerians FREE:

Yes, writing is not difficult. But you have to feel if you really want to write. I have already two books, but I still don't how I am writing.

This thread is really very important to writers. I was dazed when i read in one 'National' newspaper just this last weekend that "reading culture in Nigeria is going down astronomically!". BUT I strongly disagree with the author of that news paper report because what in my opinion is happening is: "GOOD WRITERS ARE NOT COMING UP AS MANY AS WE SHOULD BE" .Am I clear here? If we have many more 'readable' books out there in the market, there are so many people still want to read about. I am speaking from experience. I have paper books offline and 3 at final stages of publishing. It depends though on what you are writing on. But then, let's rekindle the writing spirit: Here is a free writing guide I just launched.

Oh, you are mistaken. There are a lot of good writers, but they are not shown on TV, you cannot read about them in cool magazines. So, how do you know what to read?

How to know what to read may not be as important as having the zeal to write yourself. You will agree with me that when you look closely at some of the celebrated write-ups, you would say inside you that YOU CAN WRITER BETTER THAN THAT! And its true. Making up your mind and starting to write is the first step.

Of couse, sometimes we are thinking that we can write better than that, but it is easy to think so. More difficult is to sit and write the same. For me book is good when I am thinking about it: I feel the same, I can write yhe same perhaps, but I didn't do that and somebody has done.

Check out something i wrote, i write a lot but not yet professional though,, but if you want to be good you need to start from somewhere, be ready to be criticized, let people see what you've written,

There are so many people who have great writings but are not confident enough to bring it out for people to see,

So i say you all should criticize this piece i wrote sometime ago,

A Thought For You

A man who marries a nagging wife is likely going to take in another one, that other one would be a "bottle".
A father has wayward children and you expect him to live long.
A wife who hates or disrespects her mother in law would surely not stay long.
A brother who has a beautiful sister should be ready to be bothered.
A sister without a brother, would cherish her father.
A man without a friend is like a chick without hen.
A leader that has lost focus is like a lion that has lost its sight.
A government without mediocrity is like an eagle flying in the sky.
A country without a dictator is like a man free from virus.
A love that doesn't end up in a beautiful union is like a big fruit that never gets ripe.
A painter without a brush to put to life all his beautiful imaginations is not better than a pregnant woman who fails to give birth.
A life without God is like a plane that has an experience pilot who is fast asleep.
That's just some thought for you, ponder over them.
