I don't really understand the point of coming out as fake just to be nice.

Either ways this is not laugh about as it is a fact. The Catholic Church sustained Aristothelism because it was a science that claimed geocentrism, admitted there was an intelligent being who governed the universe, that men had a soul and were above all creatures, etc---

Someone mentioned Plato: Plato's Demiurgo couldn't be in any way accepted by the Christian community because he didn't create but simply generated the world from an already existing substance which was---TO HELL WITH ENGLISH. GET AN ITALIAN TRANSLATOR.

La religione Cattolica ha da sempre sfruttato le somiglianze tra la Bibbia cristiana e le teorie scientifiche di Aristotele. Da notare che il MOTORE IMMOBILE di cui parlava il filosofo greco non era altro che il Dio Cristiano privato delle caratteristiche divine a lui attribuite nel cristianesimo. Pertanto la teologia greca e la teoglogia cattolica si trovavano perfettamente. Dio proprio come il Motore Immobile è perfetto, incorruttibile, eterno e immortale. Unica differenza: mentra il primo si pone come una divinità che interagisce col mondo, il secondo si limita a mettere in movimento il suo cosmo. C'è però da aggiungere che Aristotele non si occupò mai in maniera eauriente di questa figura poiché da scienziato era più che altro interessato a trovare le cause prime del mondo.

Inoltre la fisica di Aristotele andava a sostenere le cosiddette verità scientifiche contenute nella Bibblia: il geocentrismo, distinzione tra mondo terrestre e celeste, imperfezione del mondo celeste e la perfezione del mondo celeste. Negare che la Chiesa non ha in alcun mondo preso coscienza di queste teoria è assurdo e sembra un tentativo disperato di salvare l'insalvabile di questa assurda religione. Ma in effetti capisco, poiché smentite le teorie di Aristolele anche la Bibbia si trovava in una zona grigia in cui essa non ha più una scienza a cui ancorarsi.

Qualcuno prima ha anche menzionato Platone e Socrate; quindi intendo chiarire bene perchè né Platone ne Socrate sono stati accettati dalla Chiesa.

Socrate come ben sappiamo non ha lasciato scritti. La famosa opera APOLOGIA DI SOCRATE è stato scritto successivamente alla sua morte dal suo allievo Platone. In un certo senso benché abbia lasciato un'eredità, la sua filosofia verrà ripresa e corretta se si può dire da Platone. Di che uso sono teorie smentite?

Ora andiamo a Platone. Egli era principalmente un filosofo e come quasi tutti i suoi colleghi era eccetrico e si attribuiva un ruolo del tutto inaccettabile dalla Chiesa: un profeta in senso laico del termine. Inoltre benché egli avesse individuato due mondi distinti: il mondo delle idee e il mondo delle cose; la sua divinità non aveva caratterische sufficienti da poter assimilare al Dio cristiano. Il Demiurgo si era limitato a plasmare, non a creare, il mondo delle cose, usando come modello il mondo delle idee, con l'etere.

Chi ha creato le idee? Certamente non il Demiurgo perché queste esistono da sempre. In che mondo la Chiesa poteva paragonare il suo Dio a questa divinità? Plasma e non governa. Lascia gli uomini al buoi in attesa di un profeta (il filosofo) che dopo esser uscito dalla carvena, riveli a tutti la verità. Impossibile.

Considerando poi che anche Platone verrà smentito da Aristotele, immagino concorderete nel dire che non ha senso basarsi su teorie false.

Aristotele rimarrà un'autorità nella scienza e nella teologia in quanto amato dai cattolici fino ala rivoluzione scientiifica che ci sarà nel 16° secolo.
