Gosh, I loved the match! I was at a party but everyone was watching on the big screen. "David and Goliath!" was the theme - and we all wanted Davey to win, of course. I even shed a tear when the referee lifted his arm and named him the winner. This was no pity win (due to size disparity); Hayes deserved it. If you knew his origins, you'd cry for him too. He grew up in a flat in Stockwell; he went to school with a friend's daughter - and always liked to fight!

Valuev got tired out with all Hayes' weaving around and then of course V was always punching down, not forward like it should be if they were the same size.  Anyway, monumental match, even the V people would appreciate that Hayes worked for it. The British chap get mouth but he delivered in the end.

Incredible - Tiny David Haye defeats the Giant Goliath after 12 rounds in Germany.

He was the fearsome Beast from the East, the seven-foot Goliath who had never been hurt in 52 fights.

But David Haye says he tamed him like "a tabby cat", dancing rings round the giant Russian who tired himself out, repeatedly swinging wide of an ever-moving target.

This proves that with self belief and dedication, you can overcome all adversities.
