I didn't know there was a thread like this, i've been missing out oh. Glad to meet book lovers. Just finished reading "To sir with love" by Braithwhite.

That's one book I've been trying to lay my hands on since I was young -- together with Olaudah Equiano's Equiano's Travels. I wish I could get it -- my school library doesn't have it.

Beyond the Words -- Bonni Goldberg.

The Summing Up by W.Somerset Maugham and,
Living to Tell the Tale by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Just hear Marquez;"And so we shared with them a local meal whose simplicity had nothing to do with poverty but with a regimen of sobriety that he practiced and advocated not only for the table but for all of life's activities. From the moment I tasted the soup I had the sensation that an entire sleeping world was waking in my memory.Tastes that had been mine in childhood and that I had lost when I left the town reappeared intact with each spoonful, and they gripped my heart"
When I savoured this kind of dish in the opening pages,I was gripped too!

I've only read excerpts from Equiano's book in an anthology.
Haven't seen the whole book to read too.

I put it on my Amazon wishlist. Maybe someone who wants to surprise me will buy it for me.

I'm halfway the Bourne Supremacy. I'm reading and wondering how great it would have been if these movie people would actually potray a story on film the way it is in the original novel.
In my opinion, they can't.
I've watched the movie and I'll say it's a sorry excuse for what I'm reading now.

NB: in Nigeria, we produce home videos, not films. Some of them are nothing to writ home about. But some are good.

I've seen some films as well as read the books, and i can tell you, the fils are usually like one third of the books. The books work with the mind, while films work with the eyes

That, and The Sky is Falling -- those are his only true thrillers.

Zahymaka,i beg to disagree.
Eventhough i read THE SKY IS FALLING and enjoyed it thoroughly,i still think DOOMSDAY CONSPIRACY is Sheldon at his best!

i've read both windmills of the gods and the sky is falling and must say that they are both similar in plot and storyline. they basically follow the same pattern.
i enjoyed windmills of the gods more (probably because i read it first i don't know) Undecided

@ spiky, yet to read doomsday conspiracy, would love to.

@zahymaka, i find almost all of sheldons books very enjoyable.

just started reading the macgregors, alan~grant by nora roberts, i hope i find it interesting.

Hi Bagoma, I like books that give me an adrenalin rush -- they're so cool. Different people have different preferences but almost all rank The Doomsday Conspiracy, Windmills of the Gods and The Sky is Falling as Sheldon's top three, in any order.

Most of the others qualify better as romance -- of course it might be just me seeing them that way.

I am not a big fan of novels or books in general (unless it is about History or Politics)

So, I am reading the news papers. (I know, it is not a book.  Cool)
