Is it nice for a woman to breastfeed in public?

well it's not a matter of whether it's nice or not for a woman to breast feed n public, it's just a necessity. when your baby goes hungry, u just have to feed him/her regardless of where u re. i think as young ladies, we can hide our boobs frm d pubic eyes, but once u re with a baby, u'l be forced to bring this breast out in public, i always think about  it being not nice enough, but menn we aint got choice

Why is it not nice? If u can't get privacy (like in a bus or sumtin)..u still gotta breastfeed your baby

Well, I'll have to give the baby some other food like feeding bottle till we get to a private place. I can't bring out my breasts in public!

Thats better.

I saw a lady breastfeeding in d plane once. All i saw was that a transaction was taking place. I saw no breast. She was an expert. Only her nipple was out but it was embedded in d baby's mouth.

I can't see anything wrong with it.  There is absolutely nothing sexual about a woman breastfeeding her baby.
It just gives me a warm empathic feeling when I see the bond between mother and child.

Sorry if I sound unsympathetic, but these people are seriously sick. How can you even think about sex when you see a baby at a woman's breast?

Breast feeding in public is nice. I wish younger girls could completely bring out their breasts in public instead of always showing us half and claiming it's fashion.. Tongue

Hi,

i have been feeding my baby even in public. I don't mind, if people are staring or not. If you Baby is crying for food, you have no choice. No matter where you are. Or did anyone ever try to take a screaming Baby home and tell the baby its gotta wait?! There is no waiting for babies, there is wahala instead LOL

If I were a nursing mother, I would look into the breast-hiding breastfeeding technique described by Layi in his second post.  That is the simple solution to this 'problem' and I wouldn't like anyone to miss it:

So there is no excuse for denying a baby the proper nourishment due to a misplaced sense of modesty.  When you get pregnant, go and learn the technique and become an expert like that woman!

@goodguy you crack me up silly i would love that it will be a sight paraven. Well there should be some sort or straw or pipe that women can pass under their blouse or whatever and plug unto the nipple the other end goes into the baby's mouth. People will just be be seeing crude oil being tapped. No patent to any person who wants to use my idea. :-D

That depends on how old/young she is. There's definitely something interesting in watching a 20-30yr old mother breastfeeding..especially if it's her first baby  Wink

Why are you people being blind to the fact that a woman can breastfed a baby without showiing her boobs?  Why are you encouraging these impressionable young women to avoid breastfeeding their babies?  Don't you know that breatfeeding is good for the baby?   Angry

Yes, breastfeeding is good for the baby but the baby can make do with feeding bottle for the few hours spent in a public place. My Aunty squeezes her breast milk into a feeding bottle so that the carer can help her to give her son when she is at work. I think that's a good alternative.

Squeeze Shocked...How easy is that? If it's not as painful as it seems to me, then it's a good alternative.

"squeeze" is probably a harsh-sounding word but I didn't know how to describe it before, I've checked google it's called Manual expression of the breast.
