PS3's Flood Nigeria
« on: January 09, 2007, 11:56 AM »

He be like say ps3 don boku for ground in our obodo naijiriya

At the palms they have no less than 12 units at PC outlet at the palms, and seemingly more than that at GAME. The price of 60gig units at pc outlet was 130,000 I think.

A dude i know at alaba has 2 units for sale 2 weeks back, flogging for 110,000 a throw. More recently I was told there were ps3's for sale at Ikeja for 65-80 grand a pop.

'ees like all those ebay'ed ps3's are trickling down here,  or something. I wonder where GAME etc got theirs from, though? ps3 aint out in South africa yet, ne?

if u want used ps3's wait till next year. if the 360 price drop was any indication u should be able to pick em up at 35k or less by then

if the ps3 continues on its downward spiral into dismal failure you may soon even be able to get em cheaper than ps2's.

naijacutee please don't come here to buy consoles cheap i beg.  A friend of mine recently flew in to buy a cheap 360 at alaba and he saw 'weeen'. They will eat you raw especially when u start blowing your 'fo-neh' (oyinbo inglish)

And yes, 130,000 is mania for a console but people still buy em,

Lush sees the end of days, like i keep saying whether you guys bicker about it or not, PC outlet will sell all their units, alaba boys will order for more when they sell out and according to the law of demand and supply, prices will drop. I'm a PS3 fan but ehm ,  i aint dishing out the price of a return ticket on British Airways for a unit  Angry

@dmz

be not ye decieved with the xbox 360 price fall. the truth is, not too many nigerians care for the xbox 360, most of them are waiting on the ps3. due to the lack of interest (relatively) the 360 sells for about 40k now.
the ps3 on the other hand is still out at $600 in the US. and believe you me, sony has no plans for a price drop. there's no way in hell a $600 console will sell under 60k even by next year. except, of course you're talking about the 20GB model.
the Ikeja guys are selling stolen ps3s. that's why they can sell at such a low rate. if you go for that kind of thing, then you can consider that option,

I'm still going to sell my PS3 soon. not because o any fault, but i'm commiting myself to the xbox 360 for now, and i don't have the time or energy to maintain 2 next-gen consoles. First, though, i'm going to try installing linux on it, then i'm selling it for like 80 - 90K.

YOu guys are all talking about the price and where to buy the Sony PS3. I need someone to let me know a little bit about the graphics,gameplay and  entertainment of the PS3. The PSP is a wonderful handheld game so i bet the PS3 would be awesome,

I pity all those gullible nigerians who save up to buy a ps3 or an xbox 360 without having plans for a HDTV (or similar) solution along the line. It's like playing Crysis on your computer at 640 X 480 resolution, only somewhat worse,

If i connect my 360 to my computer and set the resolution to 1280 by 1024, would i get the same display as HDTV or less Huh

yes! You'll pretty much get the HDTV experience. Not too sure you'd get the 360 vga cable to buy in alaba ( they are barbarians, after all) but you could get it online. I saw it in a shop in the UK for about 20 pounds,

yeah, widescreen would work wonders. however, i can't be too sure, but i think 720p is 1280 x 800? or something like that,
with a regular monitor, just a few black bars,

I searched around some websites namely www.xbox.com. they said uve got to have a HDTV monitor. Since not all monitors use the VGA cable.

the monitor stuff is not what they're promoting as yet. do your research and find out why there's an official VGA adaptor for the 360.

WTF? thot all monitors had d VGA port thingy?

(signs) !!
The 360 VGA cable instruction manual, which i downloaded from the same site. Mentioned about having a HDTV monitor {one having the HDTV plug}
My monitor doesn't have that. infact it doesn't have any plug in at all. but i've got two, the others got it. so problem solved.

I just thought i should drop that just incase anyone wants to buy the cable, so  he/she should know whats up

Xbox 360 slams Playstation 3 again?

104  In the March 2007 issue of Game Informer Magazine "NBA Street Homecourt" was recently reviewed. As expected the game had scored a solid 8.75. However, something unexpected was that the game looked the best on the Xbox 360 as opposed to the Playstation 3.

Quoted: "I'd give the nod to the 360 in terms of visuals, but either way this game features great texturing, character models and jaw-droppingly smooth animations."

I got this from news4gamers.com. If games keep looking better on the 360, why do we pay the extra $200 for ps3. Sony fanboys would say it's for the blu-ray drive. There are lots of gamers who are ok with their dvd drives. Sony should hav made the BD drive an option just the way microsoft made the HD-DVD Drive an option. Sony may lose the next-gen battle because of this blunder.
