Let's Track The Lijadu Sisters
« on: January 11, 2007, 11:23 AM »

I have tried for over a year browsing the internet for any information regarding the whereabout and original works of the beautiful female twins who took the Nigerian music scene with a storm between the late 70's and early 80's.

Popular tracks include:

(1).Urede,   (2).Iya Mi,  (3).Orere Elejigbo, (4).Danger

I have been to Numetro strores on Lekki & Victoria Island but no luck with the search for the Cds of these lovely sisters. It would be a dream come true if anyone can provide useful information as to how I can lay hands on their past albums and even get some recent pictures of them

From what little I know about their current whereabouts, they live in Brooklyn, New York and are still somewhat involved in musical circles. I have a musician friend who likes their stuff and used to talk to them fairly frequently a couple of years ago.

As for buying their music, I think it's only available on those afrobeat compilations and so on. I don't think there have been any re-isssues of their albums. Hope that helps,

@demybk

I applaud you for starting this thread.  Being your first, I hope you keep coming back to nairaland.

Some time ago, I accidentally came across a Lijadu Sisters interview and a download of orere elejigbo on a nigerian music website.  Sweet memories of theirs came flowing back as I closed my eyes for a while.  I've now confirmed that site to be naijams.com.  While trying to figure the link, I did a google search and I must tell you there is a lot about Lijadu sisters, their music and even free song downloads online than you can imagine.  Just search google  for Lijadu sisters now!
