The National Action Committee on Aids (NACA) said yesterday in Abuja that 200 million condoms have been consumed in Nigeria within the last four years.
Speaking on the rapid acceptance of condoms in the country, the NACA official said that research had showed that about 83% of commercial sex workers now use or insist on use of condoms for fear of infection, among other rising profile of users.http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=34942 (username 'nairaland', password 'nairaland') What good news: even sex hawkers insist on using condoms these days, wow!

i know 200 million sounds like a lot,but given nigeria's population conservatively put at 120million.let's assume 1/4 of this is in the sexually actve age.so what we are hearing is that 30 million people have used 4 condoms in 4 years, that is 1 condom a year! abeg it's either we are the most undersexed people in the world or the figures are wrong,OR WE ARE NOT PLAYING SAFE!!!.let's be safe and use more and more condoms.it is ABC---A-abstinence; B-be faithful;C-condoms. nairaland holla!

I think it's good to see that there is an awareness of the AIDS virus in Nigeria, and at least people value their lives enough to protect themselves,Though i'd still preach abstinance rather than protection. I don't know what to think about the figures (200 million sold condoms) though.
@mamba: you could have used 200million condoms? ok ooo!
