because alot of af5rican americans change their name to connect to their roots. nobo0dy knows where nas ancestors came from but he is not a recent nigerian american. eraca badu for example changed her name too. my moms american friend changed her name to imani. most muslim and black concious americans change their names.

well for any of you guys who don't know nas was born in new york and his father was born in mississippi and the last time i checked none of those places r in nigeria

I don't think he is really Nigerian , i think his daddy just visited there and decided to name himself olu dara, that what i heard through one of his old songs i can't remember right now.
