African Youth Championship Congo 2007 (20 January - 3 February)

The final rounds of the 15th African Youth Championship will take place in Congo in the cities of Brazzaville and Pointe Noire. Eight teams will participate in the group stage in two groups of four. The top two teams, who qualify for the semi-finals, will also book spots at Canada 2007.

Qualified Countries: Congo, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Gambia, Nigeria, Egypt, Cameroon, Zambia

Nigeria begins her title defense today when she plays Zambia later in the day.

The results of the group A matches played yesterday are:

Congo 2 - 0 Cote d'Ivoire

Burkina Faso 0 - 2 Gambia

I'll try and get the names of the scorers later, if i can.

Gambia has become the first team to book a place in the semi-final of the AYC. They beat Host Congo 1 - 0 courtsey of a last minute second freekick.

While Cote d' Ivoire's loss to Burkina Faso means they are out of the tournament, irrespective of the result of their last group match against Gambia.

the team that dealt with brazils' u17 Shocked Grin
the scorpions have already qualified .  for the next part
when they meet the papa eagles you'll know Grin

O all right! We all know what happens after, the stingless scorpions will be back without their tails after the world cup.
