How is saying that one tribe is getting into school more than the other bashing other tribes? It might as well point to the fact that Igbos are so populated that you see them in markets and all over schools all at once.

Unless you are indeed slow, Mr Jos I was talking about YOU and you have a few friends on here who fit the very description. After running your mouths bashing other tribes you want to then turn around and scream "let's all unite as one!" Dude give me a break anyway hypocrites esp the ones supposedly "in Christ", I'm off to sleep. Ciao typical,do you always have to seek attention?. I've finally noticed you so you can now rejoice. If you have credible statistics, tender them here rather than going off tangent with your usual rude remarks. you are a little too old for such childishness, after one leaves jss,we expect they leave jss ways behind. a woman old enough to be a mother of five acting like a prepubertal youth is not a compliment

What disgusting village do you hail from babyosisi where a 23yr old is old enough to have 5 children? Infact can you do me a favor and stop responding to me you annoying hypocrite "in Christ" When her fellow igbo breathen yarn dust bashing people left and right, she never says a word then has the audacity to come to me and tell me how to behave. Where the hell were you when you fellow "brother in Christ" was being completely NASTY to mamaput and others in that other thread? You ran off after babbling some garbage towards me, not to mention the many dumb fights you started in religion threads yet accuse others of not being "ladylike" So just go and stop bothering me. I don't care for you as a person. You hate me, remember? I'm sure your God is proud. You are good at fooling others on nairaland with your "I'm just so sweet and nice and everyone else is evil" garbage on Nairaland but you don't fool me. Ciao now comot from my face. e jo.

Thief as you call yourself did you say 23,your picture is more like 32. I still stand by what I said. Whenever you attack or call me names when not spoken to,you deserve whatever comes out of it.

lol this is what? the forth time lesbianosisi has mentioned my picture. Hm, WWJS? Is something wrong? No more Muslim threads for you to destroy or something? Arent you a newlywed? don't you have better things to do? You tell me my mates already have 5 kids, shouldnt you be working on having at least one esp since you are much older than me? Why would I care on how YOU "treat" me. I find you to be a disgusting hypocrite thus nothing you ever say could mean anything to me. sorry to break it to you. You're just some nameless selfrighteous tart of cyberspace, why exactly would I care for respect from you? Do you look for respect from people you don't like? I don't. between good job on ignoring all the things I threw at you on how you really are. Like I said, you're full of it. I'm sorry I'm not a guy or part of your Igbo brethen. Now go away and stop referring to me. It's really that simple. to get back to the topic at hand, how long have you even been in the states for you to know which Nigerian tribe is the most populous in the schools?

1. What's it like to be constipated? I remember that stupid Saddam thread very well and you didnt say a word to me. Only person that even said anything to that retard was Lady T so please STOP LYING. You mentioned my picture when you said i was trying to show off for "superman" in that religion thread or do you want to deny that because I definitely do not have any problem showing you the thread. Oniro oshi. Point still remains what does my pic have to do with this topic, oponu
2. I will "accuse you madam brethen" when you are a HYPOCRITE. You watch as your fellow Igbo males yarn all sorts of garbage towards others yet cliaming to be of the Lord yet when a female replied back you come with your "you are not ladylike" nonsense. Lol first she lied about "defending" me then she goes off doing the exact same thing the person she supposedly defended me from did, who are you fooling? Did the Lord also send you to go disrupting threads of other religions with hateful garbage? Perahps you have a special Bible from the others. I beg "baby", don't bother me. I really don't care for your petty bull. Maybe i wouldnt find you so utterly irritating if you werent so keen on saying garbage to one group of people then commend another group that's doing way worse things. Perhaps that's the way people do things in your own part of Igboland. Just act your age and keep out of my way. There are better things people your age should be doing. Go take care of your husband or something. I'm sure he's hungry.

Most of the exam malpractices in Nigeria are conducted by the Yoruba. While the Igbo are busy studying and doing international and local business, the Yoruba are busy driving taxi and molue all over town. They are busy creating area boys and agberos all over the place. They are busy writing and speaking fake ''Oyibo'' with their funny accent. They are busy looting the country in the most Yorubasanjonised way possible. The Igbo are the most educated, followed by my people of the Niger Delta. A short survey of the level of English language skills here will give a clue to my infallible claim.
Yoruba ko, Ngbati ni.
Very funny but it's true. You forgot to mention that Yoruba people can never be trusted, they'll stab you in the back in no time.

I don't want to derail this thread any further,my only response would be that I am not an Igbo spokeswoman and I'm glad your're not an Igbo woman, that way my Igbo brothers have a very slight chance of ending up with you especially with your obvious littleminded tribalistic remarks. We know Igbo men are gifted with a lot of things but taming a rabid dog is not one of them.

Xcape has said all that needs to be said. Na wa for Naijas and our fascination with ethnic navel-gazing. BabyOsisi--it's telling that you have nothing to say in response to xtycod. Whatever your stance on this issue (I happen to agree with you that JAMB statistics answer the question to some degree, though not decisively since fraud has rendered the results sketchy at best), you should know that there's a contradiction in claiming to be a devout Christian and willfully ignoring the simple-minded ethnocentrism of people like xtycod. It seems like blatant hypocrisy however you look at it--I don't really care much for religious debate, but championing your ethnicity at the expense of denigrating others doesn't exactly jibe with the Bible's recommendations. I usually avoid juvenile discussions like this but I'D expected a little better from grown folks (I'm assuming here) like you since your comments are generally more matured than the norm. On the topic--I work in higher ed, so educational statistics always interest me. Research like this recent report presented to the United Nations is telling. It shows secondary school enrollment stats for Nigeria in 2003 by state and then by gender. Lagos leads the pack by far, followed by Oyo, Ogun, Edo, and Delta states (turn to page 21, class ). These states report a relatively even balance between genders in secondary school for South-West and South-South (with the exception of Bayelsa state, I think). The report also suggests that the South East has a lower rate of retention for male schoolchildren because they are often pressured into working in small/family businesses, while girls are encouraged to pursue academics. The North has the reverse problem with girl-child education because of religious pressures (pages 39-42). This discussion has been going on in Nigeria for the last few years. Doesn't invalidate the suggestion from JAMB statistics that the South East states produces the most JAMB candidates, but it also suggests that eventual matriculation/completion of school doesn't necessarily favor the South East (or the North, obviously). My two kobo .

My two kobo . au contraire,I made a response to his post but it did not go through due to my limited connection on my laptop. Tribalism is wrong. That remark sadly is one held by several Igbos due to Awolowos betrayal of Igbos but that is another topic. I will not stereotype any race,I have several friends married to Yorubas who are happy proving that we can all coexist. I have friends married to Yorubas that are divorced today I also have friends married to men from their same villages that are miserable or long divorced. There are good Yorubas, there are bad Yorubas and there are fellow Igbos I would avoid. I would like to judge people as individuals and expect the same of them

TerraCotta,
The secondary education statistics from UNICEF is based on school attendance at place (state) of abode. Therefore, the figure for Lagos reflects all the ethnic groups resident in Lagos. As for the JAMB statisctics, if you have taken JAMB before, you will remember that the form is filled based on state of origin. So the two data -your UNICEF data and the JAMB one- cannot be really comparable.

Honestly, I don't know about the Yorubas in Nigeria, but the Yorubas here at the university are real bright. There was a Yoruba girl at my former school that got a 5.0 GPA (since we went by the Honors grading system) and 1500+ SAT, en route on full scholarships to Harvard, Princeton & Cornell.

Your analysis is incredibly flawed because u don't adjust for population differences
For instance,Kaduna has higher numbers than Ekiti.Does that tell us that people from Kaduna are more educated than people from Ekiti. It simply means that there are far more people in Kaduna than Ekiti
What u need is data that tells u what percentage of people from a state are enrolled in school.
If state A has a population of 2 million people and 1 million have gone through schooling,State B has a population of 1.5 million and 900,000.The later is more educated even though it has fewer people who have gone through school
U have to make adjustments for population differences.Otherwise we can conclude that Nigerians are better educated than Jewish people because there are more Nigerians in school than Jews
Go back and get us some proper data
