Be Careful: There are Dupes on the Internet
« on: June 02, 2005, 03:08 PM »

I was shock when somebody sent me an e-mail that her name is Sintia Mike and she will like to be my lover.  She sent some details which I believed to be true about herself.

But after some days she introduce me to some programme to take part so I can come to USA to live with her.  I discovered that it was fake when I was finally asked to pay $120 US dollars so that my papers could be processed.  So I told her to call me on my mobile phone to know if she is real.  That was how she disappeared.

So please be careful so that you will not fall for the scam.

Are you just knowing there are dupes on the internet? Anything u are asked to pay for on the internet using western union, for sure, its a dupe. If its authentic, u are asked to pay with a credit card such that u have a chance to get your money back.

Moral: If it sounds too good to be true, it generally is. Cool

Nigerians and africans have a bad reputation on ebay. I'm an active member on e-bay, the other day i came across and auction for a samsung D500 mobile phone. The first thing the guy said was " No i will not send the phone to your sick child in nigeria, neither will i take an over priced cheque from your shipper and then pay you back the difference.

Unless you dey pay me by paypal or cash i go cancel your bid...

Another ebay addict here. Last week, browsing through ebay, I saw a new trend, a lot of listings say categorically, no Nigerian scam, no delivery to Nigeria. You see a lot of this things but then, its the name Nigerians have. Take a look at www.419eater.com and see 4 yourself

These dupes have been existing long before now, sending mails upon mails asking for assistance one way or the other. You can always even notice their wrong grammatical use of words.

Cheesy

I don't think that was intended to be a slang, just a typo.

The probability that someone would mistakenly type "epud" twice instead 'dupe' is very close to zero.
