My Hp Laptop Pcmcia Card Slot And My Broadband Internet

My friend got a HP laptop and blindly went to subscribe for NITEL's broadband internet without taking his laptop with him. He was given the card but later found out that it couldn't fit into his HP card slot.
So now he's kind of in a jam.
I there like a card slot converter or something.What can be done.
