LadyT,

I am currently studying for an M.Sc degree in the UK. Please before you start asking me why I am not in Nigeria, let me help you: I am here on a scholarship. I did not want to come here at first (and I actually didn't because I was supposed to do the program in 05/06 but chose not to but I was offered the opportunity a second time) as I was/am doing very well back home. I'm not a refugee in whatever way you might define it (economic, political, family etc).

So you see, some of us still feel we can do better back home OK!!

Yeah and it's very easy to make it out there. HahaMost people abroad work 18hrs/day and bust their ass just to pay bills alone and you're talking about easy!  Undecided

The same people who bust their guts go home and bulid massive houses and act like its not cleaning they do over here.  They do gain something from it.

I know one insane Ghana lady who works 5 jobs thats just madness to me but shes currently buliding her 3rd house in Ghana!

But education is free in the UK!  You get the correct grades you can do any job you want regardless of your background.  You don't need to bribe anyone or beg someone to get you the job you deserve.

(Actually education is not 100% free in all cases I'm going to have to pay for my second degree but thats another topic)

Lady T, i take it that you willfully choose to look down on people who feel they are beta or would be on d long run, well i reserve my comments but if per adventure your parents lived in the UK in the 50's to the 70's *just like my parents* then u would agree that there is no place like home as they would tell u that when they relocated back here they found that those they left here were doing beta than they that worked their fingers to the bone in the land of the oyinbo man!

Education is "free" but the tax you pay is enough to pay for your education several times over, I'm sure.  Tongue

Your not getting it are you?
I am not looking down on anyone but its crazy to say its easy to make it in Nigeria!

Trust me I have had it drummed into my since I was a child that there is no place like home.  I have been told I need to get my education get my qualification's and then I need to start thinking of what I want to achieve before I go home.  My mum used to take us to Nigeria like 3 times a year when we were kids I think because she feared we would not know where we are from!

My Dad has already relocated and non of his peers he left behind have surpassed what he has achieved.

Look if God grants that you are able to make in Nigeria then Good luck.  But please stop making out like its really easy and those abroad wasting their time because the same opportunities can get in the UK are there in Nigeria.

Lady T, u sure have a distorted idea of how things work here but don't be goaded into believing none of your dad's peers surpassed his achievement, what's the basis of your assertion? Academically, financially or what? Abeg where 1 man farm extend reach na dia another man own start! Making legit money anywhere aint easy but must we all jand before we receive our breakthrough? The simple truth is Nigerians are making it here, is Seun Osewa planning to move to UK? And i doubt the Osewas are the richest or most connected even in Ota!!

I can say you all have made my day very interesting, reading all ya posts and digesting them amicably.

Personally, i believe UK generally SUCKXXX-BIG TIME

I have some cousins studying there and some working too. Have also visited a few times.

Can i ask yu guys ONE question, why are the majority of Nigeria peeps stayn in uk broke, as in gat no cheese, always looking for whom to swindle a few bucks either by begging or otherwise.

I don't understand this concept of becoming 2nd class citizens in another country in order to make money, money that most times takes more than 20 years to come, if it does come at all

Just last summer when i went to visit a friend in salford, she was so fcuking broke and nearly depleted my Int'l master card.

In effect, all am saying is compared to other developed countries of the world, UK is lagging behind anyway yu want to look @ it.

So, to the original poster, you just have to take heart and try to make your time worthwhile da best way yu can, its yur call

@Naija4life,
i don't normally diss ladies (especially fine ones), so i wont diss you

But let me advise u, Change your friends.

Nigerians that i know in UK are never broke, except when they recieve phone cals from their relatives back home  Cheesy

Nigerian young guys cruise about in CLK's on the night scene, spend stupidly on girls at clubs and waste money on bets

And who lives in Salford sef, Huh   Except  Salford Uni students and people that can't afford to live in Manchy

Has anyone ever been to Erebus drive in Thamesmead Huh

Those flats are fit for royals, a high percentage are owned by Nigerians doing legitimate jobs

Forget 419, Go to the Investment banks and see young Nigerians making it big,
Go to Ashimolowo's church (KICC) on a Sunday and see the cars Nigerians drive,Even white people cannot afford them things

Not everyone Nigerian in UK is plagued by the curse of Peckham

@walelead, i wonder these so-called Nigeria boys that cruise about in their CLK's yur talking 'bout (tnk God for 419). She's just a case among many i know of, some stayn even in finchley. They're always crying because of lack of money. Its never enough.

And don't forget i never generalized, i just said the majority of them.

And if i may ask, which group do yu belong to Huh

(a), big spenders
(b), low spenders
(c), NO spenders
(d), latchers
