Shipping Goods From Usa To Nigeria - Which Is The Cheapest?
« on: January 29, 2007, 02:05 PM »

I have stocks of items waiting to be shipped to Nigeria from the US but am finding it hard paying for the shipping. UPS, DHL, FEDEX, AIRBOURNE fees are a little too expensive for me. If you have an idea about a much cheaper company or a better way to do this, please let me know.

How do you pay for these goods.  I'm really interested.  About how much are the shipping fees?  Thanks

Find below some details that will act as a guide to you. I made this enquiry when I  was about to ship in from the US. They have an office at Ikeja Shopping Complex MObolaji Bank Anthony Way, and will deliver to your doorstep.

1)  $5.05/kg or $2.29/lbs for freight. Pending on your weight, you could get a discount.

(2)  Clearing cost is =N=180/kg

(3)  You have the options of making payments either in NewYork or in Nigeria.
NOTE: Payments in Nigeria attracts additional cost of 2% of total freight cost.

(4)  We also require copies of receipts of purchase or invoice.

y don't u try oceanfreight from the US to Nigeria. Especially if you are coming from the East Coast. it mighr take about 14-20days to be in Lagos but it will be cheaper. don't let shiiping cost wipe out ur profit.

@bulwark, are you sure about those rates? Can you help with the shop number at the Ikeja Shopping Complex? Do you know if they have a branch in GA? Anyway thanks for the contacts. I will call them to ask that. Thanks a lot.

@promise72, I don't think that will work for me. Thanks anyway.

The shipping is approx. $80/kg. Takes 3-5days to get to Nigeria. That's too much for me. Won't make much out of that. I pay with Credit Card.

I am working on a petition against NIPOST/EMS for the cases where people are asked to pay some extra money under the table to be able to pick up there packages/mail and I was wondering if any of you who have had issues of this kind with the company would like to sign my petition ?? I intend to submit it to the ICPC and also submit a copy to the EFCC. To Fight corruption in Nigeria , we the people need to get involved to some extent and this is a good way to get your complaint heard by the right authorities.

I myself have had to tolerate this for too long and since we already know that we have forces that are working to get things cleaned up now, it will be a good move to actually join the fight and let them know that we are behind them and at the same time get our voices heard. This is 2008, a year in which we can effect the crime situation in that country in a big way by simply taking advantage of what is being offered to us now to our advantage.
