Obama is not Black
His mother is white so how is he black and not white?

He is African-American in a cultural sense, and African-Americans aren't overall technically black either in the direct racial sense of the word. We are on average a pretty mixed people racially; yet we are still recognized as blacks. In the US the idea of being black is much more associated with your cultural upbringing and blood racial than the actual context of the word itself.

That someone with a white parent is, in common parlance in the US, referred to as black doesn't in reality make him black.American parlance isn't the definitive criteria for determining a human being's racial category.

Exactly!!! I wonder why Americans think they can label someone "black" or even "Asian" as long as he is not 100% white? Tiger Woods, once said he isn't "black" which caused an uproar then. I didn't condemn him as he has every right to decide which racial group he wants to belong to. I know it is quite difficult for a lot of mixed raced kids growing up, not entirely fitting into either community. But Americans penchant for disregarding the other genetic makeup of mixed race people or so called "African American" is narrow minded.
