Twas the night before Christmas
as I lay in my bed asleep
no wars being fought
the world is at peace
orphanages are closed up
every child has a home
not one will suffer
not one left alone
the alleys and park benches
are empty of the homeless
for they all have families
and are no longer worthless
no one is jobless
no lines at unemployment
everyone making money
for total enjoyment
no hungry faces
waiting in lines to be fed
there is plenty of food
in their own cubbard
no children crying
or being abused
no rapes or murders
no drugs to make you confused
no guns or weapons
of mass destruction
new affordable homes
are under construction
every faith and nationality
are pulling together
working as one
to make the world better
Love and happiness
is all around
good health and wealth
has been found
the towers still stand
mighty and strong
everything is right
nothing is wrong
as it begins to snow
and the church bells ring
St Nicholas delivers presents
and the angels sing
as I roll over
and open my eyes
what do I find
to my surprise?
