My African Brother
« on: December 22, 2005, 06:17 PM »

my african brother
why do u wear masks
why do u try to conceal
the very thing that makes u who u are
u try to rid yourself
of all africaness
my black skinned brother wearing white masks
how dare u sell ur soul
for a spot in their good books
u seek for a check beside ur name
a sign of approval...almost like fame
skin;of toasted bread and coffee
ur almost white...u presume
be not fooled by the lightness of ur skin
ur as black as can be
if only u could get rid of the stain
"stain" that's what u call it
to u,being black causes u pain
in ur dream world
ur of european descent
imagining ur self
chattering away in brilliant oxford accent
prancing on the streets of london
swaps hes dashiki's for  hes three piece flannel suit
u turn ur nose upwards
when u come across a fellow man of ur home
u upset my insides
u bloody sell-out
u deny ur roots
but i just laugh
black man in white man's clothing
they mock u secretly
"look at that poor fool..who wants to be white"
they spit on the very thought of u..
my black brother
be proud of who u are
african from head to foot
this is the very depth of ur roots:black
walk proud!

African roots
remains that true
essence of individuality

Why do you throw it away?
don't you believe in reality ?

the beauty of the world
resides within you
why do you hide in darkness ?
your strenght is your blackness

Be proud of who you are
don't forget where you come from
cause you are a star
and always remember your home

Your culture is your dream
your dream is your reality...
